Then some stood up and gave this false testimony against him: "We heard him say, 'I will destroy this temple made with human hands and in three days will build another, not made with hands.'" Yet even then their testimony did not agree. Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, "Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?" But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?" "I am," said Jesus. "And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven." The high priest tore his clothes. "Why do we need any more witnesses?" he asked. "You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?" They all condemned him as worthy of death. (Mark 14:57-64). Joe Henson, Pastor Matt Haycraft, Reporter JESUS CHRIST OUR FIRM FOUNDATION 1415 N. It's roots, you discovered, were still alive, and they might even have spread. Sinful thoughts can be like that. When we come to Christ, He begins to change our thinking, and new thoughts begin to take root in our mind ---thoughts about God's love for us and His will for our life. Don't be surprised when old ways of thinking crop up --- but don't let them linger. When they come, imme- diately turn to God and ask Him to help you get rid of them --- just as you pull weeds out of your garden"—Billy Graham. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher" (Romans 10:13,14)? "And He (Jesus) said unto them, go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that belie- veth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned" (Mark 16:15,16). "For I am not ashamed of the gos- pel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that belie- veth" (Romans 1:16). State Road 356, Petersburg • 812-677-0105 Pastor Shane Springer Jesus asked "what good will it do you, if you gain the whole world but lose your soul?" Yet, we are surrounded by a world that is constantly telling us that we need more and we need it now. There is never enough and no ma er what we do, our pursuit of things in this world ends in death. It is no wonder that every day we are reminded by the world that people are angry. Two thousand years ago Jesus Christ proved that he was the true King by loving everyone uncondi onally and giving up his life for people who didn't deserve it- including you and me. There has never been another leader like Jesus; No wars and no poli cs, just love and compassion. How many of the world's problems would start to vanish if we just loved each other? Jesus said "Come unto me all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." Jesus gives us hope in a hopeless world. Alford United Methodist Church is a small country church and has been around for over a hundred years. We are located three miles east of Petersburg on State Road 356. Please come out and celebrate Jesus Christ with us. We would love to have you. All are welcome. Alford UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
