I looked in the pater and two of our Winslow stars had passed on June 24, 2022. James U. Lamey at age 84 and L ydia Belle Milliard at 88. I know these two fine stars from Winslow and both of them had a smile for anyone. I have some Patoka Township Lions Club photos and papers that has James Lamey and oth- er officers' names. I loved to go on the Pike County Tractor Drive and see the backroads. I remember L ydia being with the Winslow Senior Citizens when mom, Mildred was help- ing out. Recall all the great memories and share with oth- ers. Jim and L ydia will be missed in Winslow. Sad to hear the passing of Bobby Dotter- wich at age 50 on June 23,2022. He always had a smile when he would come to the Igloo and get that tasty ice cream. Send postcards and notes of interest to: Sweets Column, Winslow, IN 47598. There were no post- card this week. The Patoka River right now is half full and Winslow had 9/10 of an inch of rain. I hope it rises to half or 3/4 full so the floaters will have a great time on July 9. June 22 to June 26 the air conditioner was still on from high index of heat over 100 with highs dropping from hight 90s to the middle 80s. When the work week began the humidity was gone, but not for long. with another round of staying inside where its cool. The rain we got was Sunday, June 26, with early morning showers. We heard thunder and saw lightening with some heavier showers, then in the afternoon it was light to heavier showers. Lots of yards have more of a variety of flowers and I love to see the blooms of all colors. I have the purple Rose-of -Sharons, red 4th of July lilies, pink Phyllis lilies and lots of black-eyed Susans. My roses aren't doing too well and orange lilies are now starting to bloom. The Hawthorne tree has a new light green growth on top. Laura, Norm and I went to Loogoottee Nursing Home to see Teresa and Ted. We found out they were now in one room and they call it the honeymoon suite. Both of them are doing well, but need more therapy to get strength to mind and body. When we got there, they were sitting in the big room listening to a guitarist sing a variety of all type of music. He was good and he even wrote a song. as we left we got hun- gr y, so we ate at our favorite Mexican restaurant. The three of us also went to visit mom at Golden Living and she has her hair pulled back into a pony tail, so I had to take a picture. We spent some time as we heard mom talk about different things and heard her laugh out loud several times. We left there and got hungr y so off to Oakland City's Den- ny's, but as we stopped at 3:00 p.m., we found out they will be open during the day and close after 3:00 p.m. We drove to Princeton's Long John Silvers where the prices have gone up, but the food was delicious. Laura had a frozen strawberr y cheese cake that is great fro- zen. I would like to say that Pike County stars were won- derful when a funeral proces- sion used Hwy 64 and 61 from Oakland City. Ever y vehicle along the way stopped, as they should. Thank you. To have our blueberr y pan- cakes on a Sunday was a real treat, so now our week will be as normal as normal can be. Norm and I had to get out and on the way we saw Tom on the carport. We stopped and caught up on things. Tom keeps himself busy as he works on an old mower and if the day says no work today then thats okay. His brother Mike was up for a visit, but the days were not the hotness he is used to. It has been nice to open the windows, but to sit out on the porch and hear the birds sing and the squirrel in the tree and tr y to hide was so relaxing. The day was great because of no mosquitoes to bite. It is not the 4th of July yet, as I write, hope to see the fireworks July 2 at Miller's Field brought to us by the Ea- gles and American Legion of Winslow. Tell you all about it next week. Maddie and Alisha drove by slow and I didn't know the car, but I waved and soon they stopped and said they loved the garden lot. It is time to dim the lights on this week, but keep an eye on family and friends, slow down and see all the wonders in your area, wear a mask when in a crowd or inside for the safety of others and then as always, smile, wave and say hi to ever yone this week. .
