By Andy Heuring SG Star-Times Sports sports@sgstartimes.com The baseball and softball section- al draws were announced Sunday night. The big change for softball is Gib- son Southern will host the sectional, as they move back down to 3A for the first time in five years. "I'm glad to be back in the 3A tour- nament. We won four out of five in the 5A, but man it was tough," said Ti- tan softball coach Gary May. There are only four classes in softball, so Gibson Southern was having to com- pete against the biggest schools in the state. Gibson Southern drew a bye in the first round of the sectional. They will play the winner of Vincennes Lincoln and Princeton. In the other bracket Pike Central will play Washington. The winner of the Pike Central/Washington game will play the winner of the Gibson Southern versus winner ( Vincennes vs Princeton) game. "We couldn't draw it up much bet- ter than it turned out," said Coach May. The baseball pairings were also re- leased. Gibson Southern will play in the Princeton sectional. Pike Central will play Washington in the first game of the first round, and Vincennes Lincoln will play Princeton in the second game of the first round. Southridge and Gibson Southern both drew first round byes and will play each other in the second round. The winners of game one (PC vs Wash) will play the winner of game two ( Vin. vs Prin.). The winner of Southridge and Gibson Southern will play the winner of the other bracket in the championship game. The sectional will be played be- tween May 25 and May 30. Times and dates are to be announced later. "It is nice we have a bye and don't have to win three games, but we will have a state champion, so I am not so sure that is nice," said Titan baseball coach Chris May. Southridge is the defending 3A state champion. They are 7-6 this year overall and 4-2 in the PAC. Gibson Southern is 9 -4 overall and 3-4 in the PAC.
