The Gibson Southern FC- CL A (Family, Community and Career Leaders of America) Chapter has partnered with Santa to help bring some ex- tra magic to your holidays. FCCL A members will use your supplied information to create personalized letters from the big guy himself. If you'd like Santa Claus to write your child a personal- ized letter, the cost is $ 9 per letter. Children residing in the same home will each receive a different style/worded letter. To order your "Letters from Santa," visit: buy.chip-in.us/?- causeId= 5582. Follow direc- tions to fill out a Google infor- mation form for each recipi- ent and to make your online payment. Orders will be accepted until Dec. 13; letters will be mailed on Dec. 15 from the Santa Claus, Ind., post office. Essential parade planned "An Essential Christmas" will be the theme for the 2021 Snowflake Christmas parade to be in downtown Princeton at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. This lighted parade will fea- ture floats, musical entries, as well as golf carts. Trophies will be awarded to the top en- tries. Refreshments will be avail- able for purchase on the west wide of the courthouse to ben- efit the Francisco Fire Depart- ment. The Grand Marshal for this year's parade will be the Gib- son County Health Depart- ment nurse, Diane Hornby. Participation in the parade is free thanks to the spon- sorship of local businesses. Those interested in partici- pating in or sponsoring the Christmas parade can con- tact the Gibson County Vis- itors and Tourism Bureau at 812-385 -0999 or via e-mail at kelly@gibsoncountyin.org. Parade entry forms and spon- sorship forms can also be downloaded from the Gibson County Visitors and Tourism website at www.gibsoncoun- tyin.org. Search is on for 'coolest thing made in Indiana' The Indiana Chamber of Commerce's new competition will crown the Hoosier manu- facturer that makes the Cool- est Thing Made in Indiana. Entries for the competi- tion are now being accepted through Dec. 15. There is no entry fee. It will feature veteran man- ufacturers to budding entre- preneurs in a Hoosier Hyste- ria-style, single-elimination tournament. Winners will be chosen through public fan voting, with the products receiv- ing the highest votes in each match-up moving to a subse- quent round. The number of votes received will be reset at the beginning of each round. The goal, says the Indiana Chamber, is to showcase the wide variety of manufactur- ing taking place in the state that has helped our economy thrive. "We hope to hear from Hoosier makers of all kinds of things. From well-known products to cutting edge items and those truly unique that not everyone may know is made here. We want to spot- light them all," offers Indi- ana Chamber President Kev- in Brinegar. To enter, companies must fill out a brief application at www.indianachamber.com/ coolestthing. All accepted into the tour- nament field will receive rec- ognition. The four finalists will receive prizes – with the champion earning a trophy, a feature article in the Indi- ana Chamber's statewide Bi- zVoice® magazine and an in- vitation to appear on the IN Chamber podcast, among oth- er benefits. What's bound to be a fierce competition tips off in Janu- ary, and the winner will be crowned in mid-February. The Coolest Thing Made in Indiana is sponsored by MCA CPAs and Advisors. Addition- al sponsorship opportunities are available for this inaugu- ral competition. Contact Jim Wagner at jwagner@indiana- chamber.com or visit the web site. This marks the Chamber's second large-scale awards program. The organization has presented the annual Best Places to Work initiative since 2006. Sip Sip Hooray Port Side Coffee owner Kali Lance, of Owensville, opened a cafe with her husband, Jeremy, and the help of their family on the courthouse square in Princeton during Small Business Saturday. The opening was a preview and trial run—full time hours will probably not start for another week, although Lance did say the cafe would be open during the Princeton parade, which is at 5 p.m. Saturday. Below: Kierstyn Lake and Grace Morris share a chair as they enjoy the new coffee shop open on the courthouse square Saturday in Princeton.
