He was born on October 27, 1931, in Bartholomew County to the late Ralph and Mary Be- atty Woodhull. He was married to Joan Hogue on October 24, 1953. They cherished 68 years to- gether. He graduated from Sandusky High School in De- catur County. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951- 1955, serving time in Korea. He was employed at Indianap- olis Power and Light Company for 37 years. A fter his retire- ment in 1992, he volunteered at the Johnson County Muse- um of History in Franklin for 26 years. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin. Survivors include his sons Brad (Doris) Woodhull and Jeff Woodhull; daughter, Pam ( John Zagorski) Wood- hull; five grandchildren, Pau- la Curtis, Jennifer Butler, Kei- la Woodhull, Bradford Wood- hull and Tonie Woodhull; 12 great-grandchildren, Adam Anders, Peyton Vaal, Brax- ton Perry, Caedon, Tyler and Brae Hammond, Shane, Ha- ley, Echo and Ember Wood- hull, and Jada and Kingston Bardksdale; his sisters, Wan- da Heaton and Faye Zeigler; and his brother, Wayne Wood- hull. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Char- lotte Woodhull; and brothers, Raye and Lawrence Woodhull. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021, at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home in Greenwood. He was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation was from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. CHRIS DEWAYNE SIMPSON Chris Dewayne Simpson, 53, of Clarksville, passed away October 28, 2021. He was born May 30, 1968, in Evansville, to Russell and Judith (Stephens) Simpson. He served proudly in the United States Army and worked as a freight driver for Fed Ex. He is survived by his son, Cameron Simpson; mother, Ju- dith Simpson; brothers, Brian (Kristi) Simpson and Andrew (Meggan) Simpson; and sev- eral nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Simp- son; and his father, Russell Simpson. Services were at 11 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the Free Method- ist Church in Petersburg, with Pastor Paul Newton officiat- ing. Burial will take place at a later date at Park Grove Cem- etery in Broken Arrow, Okla. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church. Harris Funer- al Home was entrusted with his care. KOR A K. GARRETSON Kora K. Garretson, 79, of Petersburg, passed away on October 26, 2021, in Zion, Ill. She was born June 6, 1942, to Owen and Catherine (Fowl- er) Gaines, and married Thomas Lee Garretson, all of whom preceded her in death. She retired from Kimball in Jasper. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling to various places in the United States and abroad. She also loved spend- ing time with her family and friends. She always had a pos- itive attitude and strong faith. She shared this with everyone she met. She is survived by her son, Keith Garretson; daugh- ter, Katrina Garretson; step- daughter, Sandra ( John) Tichenor; brother, Larry (Car- olyn) Gaines; two step-grand- children, Annie (Andrew) Dunkel and Jason Tichenor; and three step-great-grand- children, Jeter, Albany and Vera Simmons. Graveside services were at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Novem- ber 2, 2021, at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg, with Rev. Gary Arnold officiating. Visitation was from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at O.D. CHRISTINA TAYLOR-POWERS Christina (April) Tay- lor-Powers, 44, of Winslow, passed away October 25, 2021, at the University of Louisville Hospital. She was born November 1, 1976, to Leanna (McCand- less) Taylor-White and the late Ronnie Taylor. She attended Pike Central High School and worked at Lakewood Assisted Living in Petersburg. She leaves behind her spouse, David Powers; chil- dren, Miranda (Austin) Wil- liamson, of Evansville, and Tristan, Troy and Reese Pow- ers, all of Winslow; stepchil- dren, Brooke ( Jade) Glad- ish, of Petersburg, and Dillon Powers, of Texas; step-grand- children, Braelyn and Bay- lor Gladish, and Brynlee and Gwendolyn Powers; mother, Leanna (McCandless) Tay- lor-White, of Winslow; stepfa- ther, Joe White, of Winslow; grandparents, Lee and Nina McCandless, of Winslow; sib- lings, Cody Taylor, of Bicknell, and Lucas White, of Winslow; stepsister, Crystal White De- Jarnett, of Coe; and stepbroth- ers, Jeremy and Josh Conder, of Oakland City, and Cody White, of Seymour. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. KEVIN BLAKE FRICKE Kevin Blake Fricke, 63, brother, father and friend to many, passed away on Sun- day, October 24, 2021. He was born in Indianapolis on March 8, 1958, to William Henry and Margie (Raney) Fricke. Many in Washington and Petersburg will remember him for his love of grilling food and serving his prized sandwich, the breaded ten- derloin. He took pride in his restaurants, whether he was the manager, or the owner at the time. The last two restau- rants he owned, Frick and Fracks, and Fricks Place, were closed some years ago. His re- cent employment was with Jay C (Krogers) in Petersburg. He attended the Washington H.S., a member of the Class of 1976. A man of many interests, he had a love of animals, photog- raphy, nature and astronomy. He married the love of his life, Dena Holland, in 2004. He is survived by his sons, Christopher (Chris) Fricke, of San Francisco, Calif., and Michael Fricke, of Evans- ville; stepchildren, Saman- tha Benner and Tyer Elsey; granddaughter Destiny Fric- ke; step-grandchildren, Bent- ley and Peyton Elsey, and Jett and Kade Benner; sisters, Kim Minnis Howell, of Michigan, and Michele Deitz, of Wash- ington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deena; parents, Wil- liam H. and Margie (Raney) Fricke; and brothers, Billy and James Fricke. Funeral services were at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Ed L. Lee Mortu- ary, North Chapel, in Wash- ington, with Pastor Brad Rain- ey officiating. Interment will be at a later date. NORMA LEE BRENTON Norma Lee (Barnett) Bren- ton, 93, of Evansville, passed away at 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at River Pointe Health Campus. She was born July 1, 1928, in Winslow, to Ottis and Del- ma (Abell) Barnett. She worked as a press op- erator, tester and adjuster for Potter and Brumfield be- fore retiring after 28 years of service. She worked on the high-performance micro re- lays for the United States Mis- sile Program for astronaut space shots. She was a mem- ber of a Church of Christ since she was 13 years old and was an active member of Washing- ton Avenue Church of Christ since 1998, where she en- joyed volunteering and travel- ing across the United States with the Sojourner Group. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, and she enjoyed quilting, knitting and crochet- ing. She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens, and playing games, especial- ly Bingo. She is survived by her daughter, Karen ( Wayne) Parke; son, Larry (Sue) Bren- ton; sister, Shila (Doyne) Ha- ley; grandchildren, Timo- thy Wayne (Libby) Parke and Andrea Hartman; and great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Skylar, Keaton and Kaylee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ottis and Del- ma Barnett; husband, Buthyl "Adrian" Brenton, who passed away in 2004; and brothers, Lyndal Barnett and Lowell Barnett. He was born on December 9, 1991, in Evansville. He faced many physical challenges throughout his short life due to cerebral pal- sy. Even with his limitations, he made a lasting change in everyone he met. He had an infectious laugh that he loved to share. He enjoyed snug- gling with his cats and dogs. He adored his family, espe- cially his Dad. He was able to spend the majority of his life at home with the help of many home healthcare nurs- es. In these last few years, he was well cared for at Golden Living Center in Petersburg. During COVID-19 lock downs, the staff would often call home so that he could talk with his family. He especially liked to listen to his dad, Bobby, and brother, Gabriel, tell tall tales and recite the story of Winnie the Pooh Bear and Tiger, too. He is survived by his par- ents, Bobby and Gretchen (Harris) Walters; brother Gabriel Harris Walters; and grandparents, Roy and Diana Walters, all of Dutchtown. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Sondra Harris. Private services were last week at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg. He was buried next to his grandparents at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Pe- tersburg. PAT TY ANN HEURING JONES Patty Ann Heuring Jones, 94, closed eyes to this life, and opened them to her heavenly home on November 1, 2021, at Amber Manor Assisting Liv- ing in Petersburg, with her loving family by her side. She was born at 7 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 1927, to A.J. and Beulah Powell Wood- ford Heuring. She was born at home and delivered by Dr George Detar. She lived in the same house until she married Floyd "Bruce" Jones on Nov 3, 1945. They were married in the Winslow United Meth- odist Church by the groom's father, Reverend Isaac New- ton Jones. Patty had an incredible love for music. She was the musi- cian, organist and choir di- rect for Winslow Methodist Church and then Winslow Christian Church, where she continued until this last year. She also directed the choir and a bell choir that performed at several nursing homes and churches. She graduated from Winslow High School in 1945 and married Bruce Jones shortly thereafter. Bruce was enlisted in the Army and so they began their lives togeth- er at Fort Meade, Md., where she recalled many cherished memories. Upon their return to Winslow, they then began their family with the birth of their first daughter, Judith Ann Jones Marks, in January 1951. The birth of their sec- ond daughter, Martha Jane Jones Ingram, occurred in No- vember 1958. Jeannine Heur- ing Houchins, her niece, also shared their lives and home as a child, and helped care for her in later years and was cher- ished by Patty Ann. Patty also had a love for nurturing and entered nurs- ing school in 1970 to become a licensed practical nurse. She then continued her nurs- ing education at the Universi- ty of Evansville to become a registered nurse. She worked in many fields of nursing un- til the age of 76, at which time she retired. She was an active member of Daughters of the American Revolution, had a strong sense of patriotism and loved to play "God Bless America. She loved to cook and enter- tain friends. Christmas was a special time for her. Her flow- ers and garden were a special delight, and many hours were spent watering and weeding her flower bed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce, on March 4, 2011; parents, A.J. and Beulah Heuring; half-brothers, Frank Heur- ing, Sr. and Hibbit Woodford; half-sister Arah Corn; broth- ers, David Powell Heuring and Richard Leon Heuring; and a nephew, Doug Heuring, whom she loved dearly. Surviving her are her daughters, Judith Ann Jones ( John) Marks and Martha Jane Jones ( Jay) Ingram; and her niece, Jeannine (Sonny) Houchins; five grandsons, Duane, Brad and Doug Marks, and Erik and Jonathan Died- rich; step-grandson, Christian Ingram; seven great-grand- children; and great-nephews, Brian and Jason Houchins. Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, November 8, 2021, at Winslow Christian Church. She will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery in Winslow. Pauw, 34, of Pe- tersburg, gained her wings and was wrapped in the arms of her Savior at 11:55 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, with her loving husband by her side. She was born in Hunting- burg on December 30, 1986, to Michael and Bonnie (Abell) Walburn. She married Josh Pauw on August 11, 2008. She loved being a stay-at- home wife and mother. Her daughter, Gracie, was her true pride and joy. She was adored by her family and friends, and enjoyed spending time with each and every one. She en- joyed crafting, sewing, cro- cheting, making rubber band bracelets and spending time with her pets. She had a heart of gold. No matter what she was going through, she always had time to shower others with love that radiated through her life like a bright light. She was always the first to encourage and praise others. She loved her Lord and Savior, from whom she gained her strength and courage. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her hus- band, Joshua Pauw, of Pe- tersburg; one daughter, Gra- cie Pauw, of Petersburg; her mother, Bonnie Walburn, of Washington; her father, Mike ( Jan) Walburn, of Petersburg; two brothers, Mike Walburn, of Petersburg, and Zachery Skinner, of Washington; one sister, Samantha Jo (fiancé, Jason Taylor), of Washington; her paternal grandparents, Bill and Maxien (Delk) Wal- burn; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her maternal grandparents, Imel and Louise (Phillips) Abell; and one nephew, Aus- tyn Walburn. ALLEN DAVID HANSELMAN Allen David Hanselman, 83, of Velpen, passed away at 3:02 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born September 1, 1938, in Huntingburg, to Ar- thur Frank and Ossa Mae (An- dry) Hanselman. He was employed at Master- brand for 31 years. He was a passionate horseracing train- er and racer of standard bred horses. He is survived by five chil- dren, Marilyn (DeWayne) James, of Velpen, David Hanselman, of Carbondale, Ill., Martha ( James) Volz, of Velpen, Mark Hanselman, of Velpen, and Mike (Marilyn) Hanselman, of Velpen; one sister, Lorene ( John) Mason, of Greenwood; 10 grandchil- dren; six step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann (Floyd) Hanselman; his parents; one brother, Arthur Frank Hansel- man, Jr.; and one grandson, William "Billy" Allen Prior.
