Definitely not a good time to get anyone hurt, especially in these conditions." "We were proud of the kids battling in this one and giving some strong performances. Xavery got another invitation- al win and our teams are head- ed in the right direction going into our final regular season meet this upcoming weekend. ( We) just have to get everyone back and healthy." PC INVITATIONAL At the Pike Central Invita- tional on Saturday, September 25 at Prides Creek, the girls took home third and the boys' team placed seventh. Several schools participat- ed in the invitational, includ- ing: Gibson Southern, Boon- ville, Jasper, South Knox, Evansville Christian, Barr- Reeve, Castle, Evansville Me- morial, Evansville Signature School, Mount Vernon, North Knox, Evansville Mater Dei, Tecumseh, Evansville Day School, White River Valley, Harrison, Washington, Vin- cennes Lincoln and South Spencer. In the girls' division, the Lady Chargers placed third with a top five average time of 22:09 and 112 points. The winner of the girls' division was South Knox with a top five average time of 21:01 and 56 points. Other participating schools' scores were: Jasper with 62 points, Barr-Reeve with 118 points, Gibson Southern with 138 points, Boonville with 140 points, Evansville Memorial with 152 points, Castle with 153 points, North Knox with 209 points and Evansville Ma- ter Dei with 213 points. Finishers for the Lady Char- gers were: Weisman placing first with a time of 19:20, a new Pike Central freshman re- cord and a new overall course record for a Charger runner, Teague placing 13th with a time of 21:08, junior Kenne- dy Willis placing 20th with a time of 21:46, Whitehead plac- ing 27th with a time of 22:12 and Anderson placing 72nd with a time of 26:16. Coach Graham said, "The girls were outstanding today. We are pretty happy with the third place finish today. We were also very happy to see our seniors run well on their last regular season home meet and the team to do so well. These girls continue to cut time and we believe their best races are still ahead of them." "Congratulations to fresh- man Xavery Weisman for win- ning the invitational and set- ting a Pike Central freshman course record and a new over- all record for a Pike Central runner." "We are now looking to get everyone healthy as we pre- pare for the PAC meet next week." The Charger boys' cross country team placed seventh in their division with a top five average time of 18:42 and 202 points. Jasper took first with a top five average time of 16:52 and 45 points. Other participating schools scores in the boys' division were: Castle with 43 points, South Knox with 72 points, Evansville Memorial with 106 points, Gibson Southern with 199 points, Evansville Mater Dei with 208 points, Signa- ture School with 241 points, Barr-Reeve with 242 points, Boonville with 244 points, Vincennes Lincoln with 245 points, Harrison with 306 points, Washington with 331 points, White River Valley with 346 points, Tecumseh with 353 points and Mount Vernon with 378 points. The Pike Central boys' team finishers were: Chan- ley placing 23rd with a time of 17:53, Delobel placing 32nd with a time of 18:27, Barnett placing 35th with a time of 18:37, Woodhull placing 53rd with a time of 19:12, Carter Blackwell placing 100th with a time of 22:51 and DeCoursey placing 104th with a time of 23:28. "Our boys were seventh out of 16 teams today. That is a strong showing for such a young group. We had per- sonal best times up and down the lineup and were really ex- cited for the guys. A couple of them beat their best times of the year by one and two min- utes." "Just a terrific day for them. We need to keep that improve- ment coming as we head in- to the PAC meet next week," commented Coach Graham.
