He was born on May 22, 1954, in Washington, to Sher- man and Melba Myers. He graduated from Peters- burg High School in 1972. He worked at the county garage for 32 years. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Union Fire Department for 17 years. He really enjoyed eat- ing at Sullivan's Grocery Din- er in Union. He really enjoyed helping plant crops with his friends, Kevin and Pat West- ern. He loved spending time with his grandkids, and niec- es and nephews. He is survived by a daugh- ter, Amanda Kerns (Sam Nor- rington); son, Chris (Karen) Myers; twin brother, Ted, and brothers, David and Terry (El- len) Myers; grandkids, Devin Kerns, Dezi Kerns (Eric Tru- itt), Lane Kerns and Summer Myers; nieces, Jessica My- ers, Stephanie Myers, Kelly (Bill) McCandless and Grace Robling; nephews, Davie My- ers, JS Myers and Lukeus Robling; great-nieces, Mel- ody Hammel, Myla Mill- er, Ryley McCandless, Jessi- ka Myers and Alexis Myers; great-nephews, True Hammel, Jordan Myers, Aiden McCand- less and Logan Myers; and for- mer wife, Pamela Bailey. He was born in Brazil, Ind., on July 18, 1952, to John and Evelyn (Alsip) Pell. He was an agent for State Farm insurance in Petersburg for 35 years. He served on ma- ny committees as a member of several local civic organi- zations, including the Buffa- lo Trace, Discover Downtown Petersburg, Phi Kappa Psi, Pe- tersburg Lions Club, Kiwanis, Moose and Masonic Lodge, and Veale Creek Theater. He also served on the commit- tee to build Prides Creek Golf Course. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grand- daughter, Clara. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Blake (Chelsea) Pell, of Bloomington; daugh- ter Lindsey (Brian) Kiesel, of Petersburg; grandchildren, Isaac, Lucy, Fiona and Ame- lia; and brothers, John and Donald (Paula) Pell, of Flor- ida, and Robert ( Jan) Pell, of Brazil. RONALD R AY PHILLIPS Ronald Ray Phillips, 78, of Petersburg, passed away June 15, 2021, in Newburgh. He was born February 12, 1943, in Pike County, to Rex and Jewel (Culbertson) Phil- lips. He was a faithful member of the Glezen Revival Center. He was a founding member of the New Life Singers. He was a pastor and evangelist for ma- ny years and shared his love for Jesus Christ with everyone he met. He is survived by his wife, Vicky Phillips; daughters, Renee (Thomas) Anderson, Rhonda (Pablo) Ruiz and Rae Ann (Alan) Brock; grand- children, Nathanael Ander- son, Kaiden Brock and Gavri- el Brock; brother, Don (Barb) Phillips; and sister, Terresa Schnarr. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services were at 11 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at the Glezen Revival Center in Glezen, with Alan Brock officiating. She was born in Daviess County on October 2, 1957, to Larry and Vera ( Johnson) In- gersoll. She worked as a homemak- er and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Peters- burg. She is survived by her hus- band of 46 years, David Ear- ley; mother, Vera Ingersoll; sons, Ryan Earley, of Velpen, and Clint Earley, of Peters- burg; grandchildren, Baron, Gunnar, Kaylee, Sierra and Bryer; and brother, Steve In- gersoll, of Vincennes. She was preceded in death by her father; and sisters, Lisa Coffman and Teresa Ingersoll. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at O.D. She was born April 8, 1927, in Winslow, to Medford F. and Hazel B. (Powers) Julian. She lived there for 28 years. She married the late Randal Cox on May 14, 1950. She was a previous resident of Cam- by for 60 years and resided in Brownsburg since 2016. She was a 1945 graduate of Spurgeon High School, where she was also class president. She was a homemaker and a member of Camby Communi- ty Church for over 50 years. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers. She enjoyed cooking and providing hospi- tality. She always made sure bellies were full and no one left hungry. She was a sweet and gentle spirit. She is survived by her two daughters, Sheila F. (Dan) Gagen, of Leo, and Elaine G. (Bill) Potter, of Brownsburg; five grandchildren, Sarah Taylor, Timothy Gagen, Sere- na Johnson, David Potter and Isaac Potter; and one sister, Virginia L. Fowler, of India- napolis. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; and her husband, Randal Cox. A Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednes- day, June 23, 2021, at Jones Family Mortuary in Moores- ville, with Charles and Cathy Paxton officiating. She was born on June 13, 1942, in Winslow, to Virgil and Rhoda Blanche (Morton) Hamm. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Pen- tecostal Church in Oakland City and Glezen Revival Cen- ter Church in Glezen. She is survived by her hus- band of 63 years, George "Bob" Shepherd; son, Steven Wayne (Keila) Shepherd, of Winslow; daughter, Becky (Timothy) Blaize, of Peters- burg; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Hamm, of Sandborn. Services will be at 11 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Lamb-Basham Me- morial Chapel, with Bro. Ed- die Willis, Bro. Gene Burkhart and Bro. Ron Vickers officiat- ing. He was born March 19, 1929, in Dutchtown, to Ber- nard and Ada Pearl (Thom- as) Garretson. He was a proud farmer. He sold for Moorman's Feed Co. and for Mason's Shoes. He is survived by his daugh- ters, Ruthie (Steve) Barrett, Donna Miller and Jean Ann Garretson; seven grandchil- dren; nine great-grandchil- dren; one great-great grand- child; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Grester Garretson and Thom- as Lee Garretson. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. EDT on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Iva Cemetery, near Otwell, with Pastor Gary Arnold officiating. Harris Fu- neral Home is entrusted with his care. ELNOR A E. TEVAULT Elnora E. Tevault, 94, of Ot- well, passed away at 7:50 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021, in Lakewood Assisted Living in Petersburg. She was born in Dubois County on March 29, 1927, to Edgar and Elfrieda (Eisenhut) Leistner. The family moved to Pike County in 1933. She attended Otwell School for 12 years and lived all her life in the Otwell community. She married her husband of 38 years, Jim Tevault, on Febru- ary 9, 1974, and he preceded her in death on July 8, 2012. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Haysville and the Petersburg Moose. She enjoyed ceramics and quilting, and loved birds, even collecting cardinals. Surviving are one son, Da- vid (Shawna) Popp, of Otwell; one sister, Wilma Jones, of Ot- well; one sister-in-law, Vonda Leistner, of Jasper; one grand- daughter, Paige (Kyle) Lewis; one step-grandson, Jackson Deffendall; one great-grand- daughter, Lanie Elizabeth Lewis; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death be- sides her husband are one daughter, Judy Cueves; one sister, Louise Leistner; and two brothers, Emil and Al- fred Lestner. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, with Pastor Tim Holt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery in Haysville. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the chapel.
