Proceeds from this year's event will assist with the operations at Open Arm's Christian Ministries' two campuses at Switz City and Lyons. The 5K run will be a chip- timed race Magnificent 7 (Mag 7) sanctioned race series. Founded in 1997, the Mag 7 Series markets and promotes more than 25 road races in seven counties in south-central Indiana– including Greene, Mon- roe, Morgan, Lawrence, Orange, Owen and Brown. This event is a "points race" for the Mag 7 series. There will be a competitive 5K walk, as well as a 1-mile fam- ily run/walk. The in-town course begins and ends at the Worthington Town Park. The course is flat and competitive for all age lev- els, according to Schneider. "Open Arms is proud to be able to offer this race and we appreciate the run- ners and walkers who sup- port this event every year and by doing so, they sup- port our growing ministry," Schneider said. "We also thank our wonderful group of sponsors who make this event a reality." Early race (5K run, 5K competitive walk and 1-mile Family Walk/Run) entry fee is $20 per person with a $25 per person registration fee on the day of the race. All entries include a spe- cial-designed T-shirt. In the 5K run, medals will be awarded to best overall racer, as well as the first and second place finishers in each age category for male and females. Cost of the Kids' Fun Run is $10 per person and does not include a T-shirt. A shirt can be purchased for $10. There is also a virtual run opportunity available for those who can actually run the 5K or the 1-mile walk at any time or any place they want. Register just the same as the regular race, but atten- dance on race day is not nec- essary and they can still sup- port Open Arms' ministry. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with the 5K Run/Walk Race at 8 a.m.; followed by the Family Walk/Run at 8:15 a.m. The Kids' Fun Run will begin at 9 a.m. Run/walk categories will be ages 14 and under; age 15 - 19; age 20 -29; age 30 -39; age 40 -49; age 50 -59; age 60 -69; and age 70 and over. Kids' runs will be conducted in the following age groups: age 4 and under (one lap around the park), ages 5 -8 (two laps around the park); and ages 9 -12 (four laps around the park, about 1-mile). Race registration can be completed at Open Arms' website at www.openarm- schristian.com and then clicking on the "Events" tab. Registration can also be done by sending a text mes- sage with the word Hustle to 71777. Open Arms Family and Education Services, also known as Open Arms Chris- tian Ministries, has campus- es near Switz City and in Ly- ons, both located in Greene County. The 35 -year-old non-profit agency operates the Miriam Home for Girls, the Hebron Home for Boys; administers foster care/ adoption services; and of- fers students at the Turn- ing Point Education Center (TPEC) high school equiva- lency classes and testing, as well as a variety of adult vo- cational education classes. Both seniors belted their first home runs of the season and Powell her first as a varsi- ty player. Powell and Kavanuagh were the top Lady Charger hitters with three apiece while Lexie Onyett had two and Bailey and Hickey one each. Kavanaugh and Mills got the two walks and Mills had one stolen base and Delaney Welch got on as a hit batter and scored. Pow- ell and Kavanagh scored twice and Bailey, Hickey and Welch crossed once each. Powell and Hickey led with two RBIs and Bailey had one. Lady Charger sophomore Chloey Williams went the dis- tance dispensing three strike outs, two earned runs and seven hits while walking ze- ro. Lady Marksman Kori Em- bry pitched all seven innings allowing 10 hits, six earned runs while striking out four and walking two. Tell City's Jenna Arnold al- so found the fence while Lady Marksman pitcher Kori Em- bry was one of three at the plate. Lady Chargers: 0 0 0 2 1 1 3 7-10 -2 Lady Marksmen: 1 1 1 0 0 0 0 3-7-2 LADY CHARGER SEASON AT 16-8 Lady Charger freshman Brailey Mills has the most at bats and owns the team high batting average of .423. The center fielder has the most singles at 24 and the most hits (30) and runs ((23). Fresh- man Lexi Onyett is right be- hind Mills with a .358 hitting average with 29 hits and 23 singles. Onyett is at the top with 26 RBIs. Avery Hunt hit .344 with 18 runs, seven RBIs, 11 hits and one home run. Karley Kavana- ugh hit .333 with 15 RBIs, 22 hits, and two home runs. Al- yna Sharp hit two home runs and Hailey Bailey, Kenzie Powell, Avery Hunt and Mallo- ry Hickey each have one. Pow- ell (.328) has the most doubles (8) and Kavanaugh six. Mills hit five and Onyett, Madelyn Fiscus, Hickey and Xia Staf- ford each have three. Three triples were hit by Onyett and Kavanaugh and one each by Mills and Welch. Kavanugh collected 13 walks during the season and Powell had 10. The team averaged .283 with 192 hits, 37 doubles, eight triples, eight home runs and 75 walks. The on base percent was .385 and SLG was .410. Chloey Williams and Kenzie Powell shared the pitching duties with action in 21 and seven games respec- tively. Williams registered 141 strike outs to 38 walks and Powell was a dozen strike outs to seven walks. Williams finished with a 1.899 ER A and Powell was at 4.785 for the 24 games. Williams had a 1.155 walks and hits per in- ning pitched and Powell was at 1.861. Alumni and youth softball players joined with the high school team during the playing of the "National Anthem" to open the last home game for the Lady Charger softball team.
