C-2 Wednesday, May 5, 2021 The Press-Dispatch Lutheran Baptist Church of Christ Catholic Independent Independent Christian Church of God THURSDAY, MAY 6 AT NOON PIKE COUNTY COURTHOUSE ROTUNDA Several area pastors will lead prayers CROSSROADS BAPTIST CHURCH 2789 S. State Rd 57 Oakland City Service times: Sunday school 9:30 a.m. CDT; wor- ship service 10 :30 a.m. This Wednesday, in our on- going series, Twelve Extraor- dinary Women, we will con- clude our study on the life of Anna. Scripture does not re- veal much about Anna, but yet she dedicated her life to fast- ing, praying and expectant- ly awaiting the arrival of the Messiah. In both that day and in today's world, that is ex- traordinary. We hope you get a chance to join us in our dis- cussion in the finale of Anna. The study and children's activ- ities start at 6 p.m. CDT, but are preceded by a meal that starts at 5:30 p.m. This Wednesday will be the last discussion until after our annual spring yard sale. We will start sorting through all the clothing and other items that have been brought to the church on Wednesday, May 12 and continue preparations un- til the actual dates of the sale. We will resume our study on Wednesday, June 9. I know that is several weeks away and I will remind everyone as the time draws near. Sunday morning worship service, "A Journey with Jo- nah" will conclude this week. The series of Jonah has been very revealing. It is remark- able how our lives resemble that of Jonah. Some may think of it as odd that we would ac- company a man that runs from God. However, when we think about it, we have done the same. There are times that we have not only run from God, but also questioned, dis- obeyed, and been angry with God. So, perhaps we are more like Jonah than we imagined. We hope that you will be able to join us for our last mes- sage and application. Hope to see you there. If you are looking for a place to worship, and a church family, come to Crossroads. No connectability "spiri- tually." 4. Christians are not work- ing together, seems everyone wants it their way, not Jesus' way. 5. The fewer people that show up at church, the less light of the holy spirit is pres- ent, which makes it dark- er and less joyful. The more that show up, the brighter and more joyful the church becomes. "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill can- not be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand and it gives light to all the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others so they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 5:14- 16).
