The event, hosted by Forest City Legion Post 74, is a Constitu- tional speech contest for high schoolers. There were two con- testants. Savannah McGlothlin, a Sophomore at Burns High School, came in fi rst place; she is the daughter of Nicole and Ted McGlothlin's. Her oration was "What Compromise Means to the Constitution," She received a $200 cash prize and will progress to the state competition. In second place was John Palmer, a junior at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy. He is the son of Melissa and Tim Palmer. His presentation was "How to Prevent Tyranny for Dummies" He received a $100 award. Both contestants received Certifi cates of Distinction and Patrick Henry oratory medallions. Mr. Jim Quinlan, District 23 Commander, thanked the con- test's four judges, who were provided Certifi cates of Appreci- ation and gift cards.
