He was born January 16, 1941 in Lincoln County, NC, to the late Franklin and Mandy Pryor Davis and was pre- ceded in death by a brother, Roy Lee Davis. Survivors: wife, Susan "Sue" Hudgins Davis, of the home; son, Bob Davis and wife, Karen of Mint Hill; daughter, Beth Chambers and husband, Dale of Shelby; step-son, Michael "Mike" Donald and wife, Dana of Kings Mountain; step-daughters: Patty Taylor of the home and Margaret Donald of Cary; four grand- children; nine step-grand- children and ten great- grandchildren; brothers: William "Willie" Davis and wife Diane, Carl Davis and wife Judy, and Toy Davis and wife Kathleen "Kitten", all of Kings Mountain Funeral service: The fam- ily will hold a private grave- side service. Interment was at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Guest Registry is available at www.harrisfu- nerals.com MARGARET McSWAIN PETTY Mrs. Margaret McSwain Petty, 90, of Shelby, NC passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at her resi- dence. She was born on May 7, 1930 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Butler McSwain and the late Gladys Littlejohn McSwain. Mrs. Petty married the late Rev. Samuel Petty on April 17, 1949. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Samuel Petty; two daugh- ters, Margaret Eartha Petty and Shirley Petty Morris; son, Wiley Petty, Sr.; a grandson; brother, Howard McSwain; sister, Mertis Davis; two brothers-in-law, Beaty Petty and Joe Petty and sisters-in- law, Louzinna Surratt, Mary Nell Wise, Fannie Huskey, Rita McKinney and Pearl Petty. She is survived by her children, Mary Petty of Kingstown, NC, Linda Petty of the home, Janade Petty and Wade Petty both of Boiling Springs, NC; one sis- ter-in-law, Linda Surrancy of Charlotte, NC; twelve grand- children; thirty great-grand- children; and ten great-great grandchildren. The funeral service for Mrs. Petty was private. Burial took place at Cleveland Memorial Park Cemetery in Shelby, NC. PAULINE (McABEE) PAYNE Pauline McAbee Payne, 92, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain. Born in Laurinburg, North Carolina on March 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William Jefferson McAbee and Vera Long McAbee. Polly was a former nurse and Case Manager at Cleveland Regional Medical Center and was also a nursing instruc- tor at Cleveland Community College. She retired in 1997 as the business manager of Western Carolina Claims Service. She was a life- long member of Central United Methodist Church in Shelby. She was a member of the Wesley Class, Altar Guild, and served on the Administrative Council and Wedding Committee. Polly was a former mem- ber of the Jaycettes, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Elks Auxiliary, and a Charter Member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Shelby Chapter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harold and sister Betty Clark and hus- band, Charlie, and brother- in-law, Larry Payne. Polly is survived by her sister-in-law, Linda Payne, her daughter, Marsha Payne Santora, son-in-law, Joseph, son, Jeffrey and daughter-in- law, Angela, niece, Debbie Deacon and husband, Bill, and nephew Herb Stricklin and wife Janice. She is also survived by grandchil- dren, Michelle Santora, Joel Santora and wife Hailey and Nicholas Payne. She is sur- vived by great-grandchildren Lucas Sanders, Ella Santora and Jaxson Santora. Due to COVID-19 con- cerns a private burial will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family would like to thank each and every staff member at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain for the excellent care and respect that Polly received during her time there.
