A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Willard "Bill" and Betty McKee Huntsinger. Mr. Huntsinger served our country in the US Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Vicky Lacasse Huntsinger of the home; son, Jason Huntsinger of Shelby; sister, Amy Atkins and hus- band, Kenneth of Lawndale; brothers, Doug Huntsinger and wife, Nicki of Elgin, SC and Todd Huntsinger of Kings Mountain; a granddaughter; and sister-in-law, Shelly and Donny Wesson of Shelby; Funeral services were held Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ted Easter officiating. Burial fol- lowed in Sunset Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church or Hospice of Cleveland County. Online condolences: www. claybarnette.com GLENN ARKIN SHORT Glenn Arkin Short, 85, of Casar, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at his residence. Born in Cleveland County, NC on August 26, 1935, he was the son of the late Ruffin Scott Short and Effie Grey Price Short. Mr. Short served our coun- try in the US Army where he served in Vietnam and Korea and received a Bronze Star. CLARA DEAN SMITH Clara Dean Smith, 77, of Cherryville Road, Shelby, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021. Born in Burke County, NC on March 31, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Turley Farrow Smith and Ella Mae Millon Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Miller Floyd Smith; a granddaugh- ter; three brothers, James Smith, Thomas Smith and Robert Smith and five sis- ters, Elizabeth Davis, Betty Strange, Lula Huffman, Lucille Barnes and Helen Swink. Survivors include three sons, Daniel Smith and wife, Ronda of Waco, David Smith of Cherryville and Mickel Smith of Cherryville; three sisters, Norma Gedeist of Fallston, Lillian Bryant of Shelby and Carolyn Wright of Fallston; four grandchil- dren; two great-grandchil- dren and seven great-grand- children. A Graveside Service esd held on February 9, 2021 at Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. Eddie Mulally officiating. The burial follow the service in the Cleveland Memorial Park. FRANCES "TEEN" SMART BARBEE Frances "Teen" Smart Barbee, age 95, passed away on February 5, 2021 at Brian C e n t e r - H e n d e r s o n s v i l l e . Born in Stanley County on October 24, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George Bennett Smart and Mary Ethel Boone Smart. In addition to her par- ents Frances was preceded in death by three sisters, Rodeth Bowers and Arlene Harwood, Sue Smart and by two brothers, George Smart and Bobby Dean Smart. Frances is survived by her daughter Debbie Mitchell and husband David of Shelby. A video of the service will be made available on the website of Cecil M. Mr. McCurry was born on December 8, 1942 to Robert Palmer McCurry and his wife was Maude Rippy McCurry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Maude McCurry; two broth- ers, Jack and Bill McCurry; and two sisters, Frances Bailes and Dorothy Irvin. Ray is survived by his brother, Jim McCurry of Shelby, NC. Services was held on February 6, 2021 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 1517 Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Rd. Ellenboro, NC. BARRETT Shelby: Charles A. Barrett, 78, died Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Atrium Health Cleveland. Mr. Barrett was native of Cleveland County and he served our country with the US Army. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Barrett. Mr. Barrett is survived by his second wife, Mary, and her family, Steve, Lisa and Karmen; son, Chuck Barrett; daughters, Darlene Barrett and Charlene Bakke and husband James; step- son Rick Ledford and wife, Becky; and several grand- children.
