Mark Wade,Deacon FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH 1400 E. Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Procrastination, it seems like the number one plague for many of us. Some of us ha- bitually procrastinate. But al- most all of us will at some point face something that we don't want to do. Whether it's a con- flict we have to deal with, a de- cision that needs to be made, or a skill we have to learn. All of us, will at some point want to procrastinate on something. And we will. I think for many of us, whether intentionally or not, have procrastinated in our walk with Christ. We ha- ven't let go of shame, we hav- en't overcome the sinful habit, we have put of spending time in the presence of a God who loves us dearly. It's time to change that. Mark Twain said, if you have to eat a live frog, do it first thing in the morning. If you have to eat two, eat the big- ger one first." Life's Journey "The distance on life's jour- ney is marked not by the num- ber of leaves torn from the cal- endar, but by the number of good deeds done." James writes, "If anyone among you thinks he is reli- gious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless. Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this, to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspot- ted from the world" ( James 1:26 -27). Because He lives. I've heard some people say that they don't believe in the after life, because there isn't any proof. No one has ever come back from the dead. The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ conquered death and the grave. He is the only one that has died and came back to tell us what to expect if on- ly we believe. God didn't just send his Son Jesus to teach us how to love one another, and to shed His blood on that old cross for our sins. But when God rose Him from the dead, He showed us that there is more to life than just what we are experiencing here on Earth. He introduced to us a new spiritual life that will endure for ever with Him for all eternity. "Let not your heart be trou- bled; you believe in God, also believe in Me. In my Fathers' House are many mansions; if it where not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if [when] I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also" ( John 14:1,2,3). Have you ever wondered why the devil works so hard to keep you in unforgiveness? Al- ways bringing to mind the way you were badly treated or spo- ken to by a person(s). Every thought, feeling and word that brought so much hurt thrown into your mind again and again. He does it for your de- struction. The enemy knows that if he can keep you in un- forgiveness he will eventual- ly own you. You'll start to feel abandoned by God. Doubting that God's Word is true and eventually walking away from the only One who truly loves you unconditionally. Don't allow unforgiveness, strife, or anger to stay in your heart. And once you've forgiv- en them, then every time the enemy tries to bring those neg- ative thoughts to you again, pray for that person(s). Then you will see all of the promis- es of God fulfilled in your life. "Therefore, I tell you, what- ever you ask for in prayer, trust that you are receiving it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, for- give him; so that your Father in heaven may also forgive your offenses" (Mark 11:24- 25, CJB).
