Kentucky man arrested for possession of meth By James Capozella A Frankfort, Ky., man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, a sched- ule II controlled substance and unlawful possession of a syringe late Monday after a traffic stop at SR 56 and Ar- rowhead Drive in Petersburg. Petersburg Officer Scott Ar- nold made a traffic stop on a red van when the driver did not use his turn signal turning onto SR 56 from SR 57 south. Before stopping the vehi- cle on SR 56 at Arrowhead Drive, Arnold reported he noticed the driver checking over his shoulder and frantic- ly digging for something un- der the driver's seat. When Arnold attempted to talk with Isaacs, Isaacs advised that he did not have a driver's license, but gave his name and date of birth. Isaacs appeared very ner- vous, was talking fast and sweating profusely in the cold night air, according to Arnold's report. A fter Isaacs was patted down for officer safety, Deputies Jared Sim- mons and Cody Jones came by the scene. When Arnold asked to search the van, Isaacs said no because it was a compa- ny van. Arnold advised Isaa- cs that he could not be driv- ing since dispatch reported he was suspended. He told Isaa- cs he was going to have the van towed and also conduct a Standardized Field Sobriety test. Isaacs passed all points but lack of smooth pursuit. He was allowed to take a cou- ple of bags out of the van pri- or to towing, but deputies re- trieved the bags and got con- sent to search for officer safe- ty. The required inventory was begun after Isaacs got aggra- vated and asked to leave, ac- cording to the report. Arnold told Isaacs that he would write up the paper- work quickly on the turn sig- nal warning and suspended li- cense, while Deputy Simmons conducted the inventory. Sim- mons came across the radio advising Arnold to place Isaa- cs under arrest, according to the report. Simmons said he found a black magnetic strong box under the driver's seat con- taining three used syringes, a baggie containing 13.5 Oxy- codone pills, a schedule II con- trolled substance, and also a bag with white crystal that tested positive for metham- phetamine, according to the report. Isaacs was Mirandized and then advised officers that he knew the illegal substances were in the black box. He also told officers he hadn't eaten in a coupe days and was allowed to eat a couple sandwiches he had purchased from Huck's earlier. The van was towed and Isaacs was transported to the Pike County Jail for the three possession charges.
