He was born January 28, 1950, in Washington, to Rob- ert and Mary June ( West) Shoultz. On June 21, 1969, he mar- ried Vicki (Charles) Shoul- tz. They were married for 51 years. Although she was more of a homebody and he liked to be on the go, they balanced each other out in most ways. They both found joy in the sim- ple things, adored their kids and grandsons, and more than anything, they laughed togeth- er until the very end. He graduated from Peters- burg High School in 1968. A f- ter high school, he went to work at Citizens State Bank, where he worked for 27 years. He attended Indiana Business College and obtained his de- gree in banking from the Uni- versity of Wisconsin. He then decided to take a break from banking. During this time, he sold bank insurance and then worked at Main Street Motors for a few years. To finish out his career, he went back to banking, where he worked for several years at Integra Bank. Rick and Vicki also owned and ran the convenience store, PC- 1 Stop. They ran the store to- gether for 14 years until Vicki became ill. At this time, Rick directed all of his energy and efforts to Vicki's treatment and quality of life. Anyone who knew them knows he was an amazing caregiver to her. Due to his easy-going na- ture, he fit in anywhere and had many friends. He and Vic- ki were grateful beyond mea- sure for the wonderful friend- ships in their lives. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved the outdoors, hunting, road trips, being with his friends, sports, sitting by a fire or on any back porch. He was a lifetime fan of the Green Bay Packers. He was fun and spontaneous, and could have a good time doing anything anywhere. He was quick to lend a hand and was always hospitable. He enjoyed watching others have a good time, even more than himself. He would say his great- est blessings in his life were his children and grandchil- dren. He had two children, Clint (Holly) Shoultz, of Pe- tersburg, and Valli (Cory) Williams, of St. Louis. He was proud beyond measure of his four grandsons, Xavier and Ian (Clint and Holly) and Ryker and Gibson ( Valli and Cory). He loved them fierce- ly, and they were just as crazy about him. He made the most of every moment he had with his boys. He was their hunt- ing buddy, biggest sports fan, playmate and mentor. He loved to go on trips with them of any size, whether that be to Dis- ney World, Colorado or even just a golf cart ride around the country block. He was a wor- thy opponent in a Nerf gun war, made a mean frozen waf- fle and so much more. He was the best papaw. He was the second in line of four children, Stan ( Vicky) Shoultz, Phil (Carolyn) Shoul- tz, both of Petersburg, and Karen (David) Gwaltney of Del Norte, Colo. He loved his siblings immensely. Growing up, they had many wonderful adventures. This went on in- to adulthood, where the good times and laughter has always continued. He loved his aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews very much. If you asked him, he would say he lived a great life. He will be remembered for many things, especially his love for his family and friends, the en- joyment he got out of life and a great smile. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki; his father, Robert; and mother, Mary June. Graveside services for both Rick and Vicki will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Walnut Hills Cem- etery. For those attending, we ask you to wear a mask and social distance.
