With only three league games left the team is sitting on the hot seat looking to take home that number one spot. According to sophomore Molly Murphy the team goals were to win league this year. Molly plays shortstop for the team and bats 3rd in the line-up. "Season is going good, we need to work on our communication in the field", said Murphy. According to Murphy there strengths of the team are there defense which has very few errors a game. "Us and PV have always kind of had a rivalry between us, it would be mice to end the season with a win against PV", said Fox who is planning on playing Varsity next year. The biggest part of success this season according to the girls is that they all get along with each other. They have been playing ball with each other ever since they were little kids even if they were not always on the same team. With the season coming to a close no matter how the season ends, winning league or not, the players say it will be a bitter-sweet feeling knowing that they may not ever be on the same team again. The Spartans 3rd baseman Ashleigh Fox who bats 4th in the line-up also says this season is going good thus far. "We have won most of our games and hopefully we will fin- ish out the season strong with a win against Shasta on Friday", said Fox. Ashleigh says her goals are to win league and to beat PV before the season is over. S partan ound off Whats your favorite MLB team and why? Golf team begins to wraps up season with final meet to decide who goes to sections Julia Liebert Staff Writer The Red Bluff High School Golf team doesn't consider golf as a one man sport when they play, but as a team because at the end of each match they add the lowest scores together to make a team score. "There are a lot of rules in golf," said Coach Tomasetti. There is the United States Golf Association that puts out elaborate rules that high school golfers have to play by called "We are playing well, but not as well as we have in the past," said Coach Tomasetti. There are three seniors: Ricky Brewster , Daniel Frantz, and Peter Mitzel, one junior: Kyler Pucket, four sophomores: Caleb Sanders, Ramiro Serrano 3, Brandon LaChance , and Dylan Grossman, and 5 freshman: Hunter Davidson, Dylan Virrueta, Ben Crain, Derek Runnels, and Tanner Durffee that play on the golf team. The Red Bluff High School Golf team practices every day at the Wilcox Golf Course. Practice starts at 3:30 and We are "playing well but not as well as we have in the past." Coach Tomasetti ends at nightfall. The Red Bluff High School Golf team is really thankful for the Wilcox Golf Course because they let the team play there for free. Daniel Frantz is tied for fourth in the league and Peter Mitzel is third in the league. Daniel Frantz senior, and Peter Mitzel, seniors, both have scholarships to play golf in collage. Frantz has a full scholarship to St Francis in New York and Mitzel has a scholarship to Willamette University in Oregon. As a little girl Elena Tomasetti played golf with her dad. She somewhat stopped when she was in high school, but when she got into college she started to play again and she loved it. "Playing golf can be a mentally challenging game," said Tomasetti. Playing golf there are a lot of emotions that one can have. They can be happy and excited when they make a good hit, they can be sad or angry when they don't make a good play. The team also focus' a lot on hitting at practice by playing two pitch and getting a lot of swings at practice. "We take a lot of swings every practice, it really helps," said MacDonald. The team dropped both games last Tuesday to Shasta which snapped their undefeated season. Although the streak has been snapped, the team still has a shot today at splitting a league title with Shasta. If the team wins today, they will share the title with Shasta and will be coSac River League Champs.
