Arts and Entertainment Page 5 May 3, 2013 Avoid these movies at the dollar bin Sahvanna Rice Staff Writer "Punch Drunk Love," directed by Paul Thomas Anderson in year 2002, written by Paul Thomas Anderson and with the main character of Adam Sandler, Jason Andrews and Emily Watson. This movie could possibly be one of the worst of the three movies I picked to write a review about. Barry (Adam Sandler), meets this girl named Lena (Emily Watson), he takes a romantic interest in her, he would do anything for her, then he gets in financial problems to where he is in debt to someone. He doesn't want Lena to find out so he kind of goes crazy, but finally he tells her and she forgives him. Basically, this story is a basic, I'm sorry, I screwed up, forgive me, she does and then they make up and stay together. This movie just has no dialog whatsoever. This movie is kind of boring and quite predictable. "Bio-Dome," directed by Jason Bloom, starring Pauly Shore and Stephen Baldwin in year 1996; comes in second to the worst film ever. This movie is probably one of the worst comedy's I have seen and that is quite because, this film is a transparent attempt to the success of Dumb & Dumber. This has only given me a replica to dumb and dumber, I felt like they only changed some wording and a few settings. In this movie, the two idiots are Bud (Pauly Shore), and Doyle (Stephen Baldwin), that have been friends forever, who just moved in together, do everything together and could possibly be lovers. This movie just isn't my type of movie, it was too dumb. "The Twilight Saga I," directed by Catherine Hardwicke, Chris Weitz, David Slade and Bill Condon; written by Stephenie Meyer; Starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Ashley Greene. This movie makes number three on my list because after watching all four movies (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn part 1&2), this movie could be the slowest, guessable, boring, and old movie out there. This movie has no dialog between the two main characters, Bella Swan (Kristin Stewart), and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). In this movie it is all about vampires and supernatural characters. Although at the time this movie seemed really good; when you look back after watching the rest of the movies, and reading the books, the first one is the worst. The first twilight was defineitly a drag compared to the other Twilight Saga movies. is movie was by far slower especially after watching the newer movies that has better props, better sound effects and better special effects. Also the one thing that bothered me with this movie is that it did not follow the book as much as the others did; and since it was based off the book, I felt like it should have because it was the first movie. These three movies are possibly the worst movies I have seen. I would not to leave. The refugees found the cabin first before the Newell family decided to seek shelter in their cabin. Like the rest of Weaver's books, he makes Memory Boy a male-oriented story, in which the men do most of the fighting, planning, and bonding. The women may not be innocent bystanders and story for that matter might not be real. I admire Will Weaver for his in-depth thinking that appeared within the dialogue and storyline. Without those details the novel would have lost one of its best attributes. I admire Will Weaver for his in-depth thinking that appeared within the dialogue and storyline. Without those details the novel would have lost one of its best attributes. Overall, Memory Boy is one of the best books I have ever read. This book will never get old to me, even after all the times I have read it. I know that if you read it, the same thing would happen to you. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, for it has something to share with all types of personalities no matter what. The story was without a doubt, a natural disaster that can occur anytime in life that is what gives this book the extra "chill factor." recommend these movies because of it's poor dialog, poor sound and special effects, guessable endings, and the typical love movies. These movies are a "done and over with" type of movie and a waste of a hour and 30 minutes. It's way too predictable, boring and doesn't catch any interest whatsoever. makemeasaint.blogspot.com nonesuch.com www.blog.filmarmy.ca 3 truly terrible movies. Ugh. 'Memory Boy' will leave you 'Injustice' will blow you away with a long-lasting shock with its epic superhero brawls Savannah Rice Staff Writer "Memory Boy" by Will Weaver leaves you in shock as you realize a similar tragedy could happen in real life. The story begins in July of 2008 in the town of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Newell family that consists of the feisty mother, jazz drummer father, and teenagers' si xteen-yea r- old Miles and Sarah leave suburban Minneapolis to escape to the safety and isolation of their summer cabin. Two years before, Mouth Rainier exploded, which caused the continual spread of ash and global warming. They get help from Miles' memories of an old friend named Mr. Kurz. All of the crops are affected and everyone's food is beginning to run short. Rioting, Looting, and Increased violence have caused many people to leave the cities. Many people are forced to find shelter somewhere else besides their home. Miles changed the family's bikes and boat, producing a pedal and wind-powered vehicle which gets them to their cabin now occupied by two other families who refuse "This book will never get old to me, even after all the times I have read it." tend to cause more problems than they can actually solve. All together, I found this book to be quite incredible. With every twist and turn, realistic characters, and the threatening plotline, it never became boring. One of my favorite aspects of the book is how the book, for the most part, is written in Miles' Point of View. All of the flashbacks give you more and more clues on how Miles' is thinking and what his feelings are at that point. I was so engrossed in the story while reading that it never occurred to me that the characters or the One heck of a book. Aleczander Sims Staff Writer What if the heroes you looked up to when you were young weren't such 'Good' guys or even wanted to rule the world? From the creators of Mortal Kombat and the DC Universe comes "Injustice: Gods Among Us," a game where you will see some unlikely and anticipated fights between DC characters. All the playable characters so far are: Batman, Wonder Woman, Ares, Killer Frost, the Flash, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, Nightwing, Green Arrow, Joker, Super Man, Cyborg, Deathstroke, Bane, Lex Luthor, Catwoman, Green Lantern, Sinestro, Hawkgirl, Shizam, Aquaman, Raven, Doomsday, and Black Adam. Even though that is twenty four playable characters there is still a lingering desire for more of them. Unlike other fighting games, Injustice relies heavily on story. In an alternate reality, the Joker had tricked Super Man into killing Lois Lane and his son; vicariously destroying Metropolis via nuke. After realizing what he had done, Superman loses it and out of rage kills Joker Right in front of Batman. That was the beginning of Superman's new world order that soon took over all forms of government with a Superman's-wayor –you're –dead kind of attitude. Batman sticks to his guns and searches parallel universes to find some members of the Justice League that have either turned bad or died in his own universe. Batman and his Site of the Issue www.HackerTyper.com www.samzkingdom.com HackerTyper is a neat little site that generates random strings of code whenever you press a key. In other words, when you mash your fingers randomly against the keyboard, you look like your hacking into the computer's code! Maniacal laughter is optional. 'new' allies form the Insurgency to try and stop Superman's oppressive regime. The gameplay feels comfortable and oddly familiar to Mortal Kombat. The combat is graceful and smooth with great graphics and responsive button mashing. Fights are in a 2D side scrolling fashion that hasn't been seen very often, you can throw your opponent into the surrounding environment or even use miscellaneous scenery as weapons. Each level you fight on is made up of multiple layers allowing you to carry the fight onto a different platform with a different look if you'd like. The Campaign in Injustice was written with the intent to be a standalone story from the DC Universe we used to know. They made the story this way so that it would be easier to explain why some people fight each other and how Batman could stand up to Superman. Combos in the game are relatively universal to each character some with minor differences but easy to grasp. All characters have a special move of their own that takes you on a cinematic ride, pulling the camera away and circling the action to give you the best point of view possible for the action. Each fight blends almost seamlessly into the next cinematic and the next cinematic rolls right into the next fight providing a superb connection between the story and the gameplay. The best aspect of the game would have to be that even though Injustice is a single to two player game, it still grabs the attention of everyone in the room. With the cinematic view it puts a new light on the DC Universe that even makes non-fans want to get involved and play the game. A wicked fighting game that can't be missed!
