(262) 626-4155 asa Guadalupe Education Center, Inc. is the only bilingual and bicultural non-profit community based program north of Milwaukee and Waukesha counties in Wisconsin to serve Hispanics throughout Washington County. Located in West Bend, our agency is the centralizing point that has helped educate and integrate over 500 of the 3300 Hispanic residents. Our mission is to be the bridge of integration to Hispanics and to the communities in which they live through education. With our educational and social services, we work to empower low-income, native-born and Spanish-speaking Latino families to live independent, successful lives, to build strong families and establish meaningful connections within the community. We dedicate ourselves as community outreach facility and provide a sought-after directorship for public agencies and educational institutions and businesses that are committed to understanding the diverse roles Hispanic people offer to a community. volunteer and Casa's board of directors. In 2012, the board of directors made the decision to hire Noelle Braun as the new executive director, and she started her new position in September 2012. Noelle was no stranger to the organization before joining. She met Mary Lynn in late 2008 and taught an adult English literacy class from January to May 2009. She is bilingual, studied abroad in Ecuador, and has a heart for the Latino community in Washington County, and a passion for education and helping others. Since Noelle started, many programs for the Latino community have resumed. In January 2013, we started four Adult English literacy classes, with two classes at our location in West Bend and two classes at the Jack Russell Memorial Library in Hartford. We continued our Read to Succeed program at Green Tree Elementary during the 2012-2013 school year. Volunteers assist Hispanic elementary school children with their homework twice a week, and emphasize English reading skills. This year we started an exciting program called the Latino Health Outreach Project. Its goal is to increase knowledge of health literacy among Latino residents in Washington County. This summer, Casa will start a new program at our facility called the Summer Spanish Program for Kids. A Spanish teacher will teach Hispanic and non-Hispanic children between the ages of 5 and 11, and will focus on Spanish reading, writing and conversation skills. This summer, we will also have a Summer Reading Program provided for Latino children at the United Way Hartford Resource Center in collaboration with UW-Extension and 4H. While the children are learning, information sessions for Latino adults will take place at the same time and will cover a variety of topics, such as family finances and healthy nutrition. To help fulfill our mission, Casa collaborates with many organizations and businesses in the area. For a full list of partners, please visit our website, www.casaguadalupeonline.org. Casa Guadalupe was founded in 2006 by Mary Lynn Bennett and Reverend Rafael Rodriguez, and at the time it was under the umbrella of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. In 2010, the organization achieved 501(c)3 status, which distinguished it as a nonprofit independent of the Archdiocese. Casa continues to maintain a good relationship with churches in the area. Between 2006 and 2011, many educational classes and programs were offered for Latino adults and families. These included adult English language literacy classes, an after school childhood literacy program called "Read to Succeed", basic computer classes, citizenship classes for eligible residents, accent reduction classes, and community bridge seminars intended to introduce Latino residents to the community and educate them on a variety of topics and services. Near the end of 2011, Mary Lynn stepped down from the organization for personal reasons and the organization operated without an executive director for nearly 10 months. During that time period, it On Sunday, May 19th 2013, Casa was supported by a dedicated office Guadalupe will be hosting a first ever
