It's especially dangerous when there's not an adequate cooling system in the home. As in years past, the Council on Aging/Neal Center will again be giving away a limited number of electric box fans during the summer months. To qualify for a box fan: -Applicants must be a Cleveland County resident, age 60 and over, and/ or have a disability. -Have no air conditioning in their home -Have a home situation where a threat to health exists If you fit these qualifications, please call the Council on Aging/Neal Center at 704/482-3488. Pick-up is by appoint- ment only. Appointments are sched- uled Monday – Thursday, 11:00 am-2:30 pm. Then take part in "Operation Cool-Off"! Are you a Cleveland County senior citizen that won't be able to keep cool this summer? Thank You, Cleveland County! Because Of Your Generosity, The Neal Center Food Pantry Is Filling Back Up! Thank you to everyone in the community who answered the call in supporting the Neal Center's food pantry and "Meals-on-Wheels" program with your monetary and food donations! Currently, we are in need of a few items for our homebound: •Vienna sausages •Small jars of peanut butter •Juices pouches or smaller individual bottles of juice. While our facility is still closed to the public, we are able to accept donations, Monday-Thursday, from 8:30 am-2:30 pm. If possible, please call us at 704-482-3488 to arrange a time to drop off your donation. A RETIRED MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL FOR THE NEAL SENIOR CENTER TO VOLUNTEER WITH PEDICURES The Neal Center is looking for a retired medical professional (such as CNA, an LPN or RN) to administer pedicures to those who are unable to maintain their toenails on their own. The services will be needed at least one day a week for about 6-1/2 hours. This is a great way to provide a valuable service to the patrons of the Neal Center and keep active, both physically and mentally.
