Born in Cleveland County, NC on February 1, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Pearson and Dorcas Melton Howard and LA Howard. She was retired from Dover Textiles. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherrill Queen. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Ivester and husband, Jim of Lawndale; two grandchildren, Mike Ivester and wife, Ruthie of Charleston, SC and Sherry Akers and husband, Sam of Evans, GA and four great- grandchildren, Rivers, Carter and Sanders Ivester and Olivia Akers. A private burial will be held. The family will have a Celebration of Life Service at a later date. In lieu of flowers memori- als may be made to Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150. Born in Cleveland County, NC on November 21, 1973 a son of the late Walter Edwards and Dorothy Merlin Meade. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Tim Edwards. Survivors include his broth- er, David Edwards and wife Leslie of Shelby. A graveside service was held at 11:00AM on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Elliott Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. KENNETH VIRGIL STRICKLAND Kenneth Virgil Strickland, 85, of Shelby, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Testa Hospice House, Kings Mountain. Born in Cleveland County, on September 13, 1934, he was the son of the late William Candler Strickland and Ola Mae Devine Strickland. Mr. Strickland was the owner and operator of Strickland Concessions, and a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church and the Teamsters Union #309. He also served in the US Army in the 24th Infantry Division in Germany. In addition to his parents he is pre- ceded in death by two broth- ers, Garvis Strickland and William Strickland and two sisters, Betty Hendrick and Dot Harrison. He is survived by his wife Margaret Ann Lowman Strickland; Son Brian Strickland and wife Jeanine of Southern Shores; three brothers, Earl Strickland of Candler, Gerald Strickland of Shelby and Gary Strickland of Shelby; two grandchil- F u n e r a l H o m e : Arrangements are entrusted to Clay-Barnette Funeral Home & Aquamation Center. SANDY RUPPE Sandy Ruppe, age 62, of Ellenboro, passed away Friday, July 3, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Sandy was born December 27, 1957 at Fort Knox, Kentucky to the late Dorothy Wise Hanson. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Forest City. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, L.C. Ruppe; an infant son, Joshua Ruppe and three brothers, Walter, Jeffrey, and Mike Hanson. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Shane Ruppe and wife, Sara of Boiling Springs, SC and two granddaughters, Emilee Ruppe and Emberly Ruppe. A graveside service was conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Bishop Ray Ruppe offi- ciating. BILLIE JEAN BOLIN McCURRY Billie Jean Bolin McCurry, age 67 passed away on July 2, 2020 at Peak Resources in Shelby. Born in Catawba County on June 9, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Eural Avond and Sarah Jean Scoggins Bolin. Billie worked for Bernhardt furniture where she retired from there after many years of service. She enjoyed cooking and reading. Billie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Edgar McCurry; a son, Shane McCurry of Cherryville; a daughter, Jenara McCurry Long and husband Billy of Lincolnton; two sisters, Laura Bolin of Cherryville and Judy Pope of Shelby; four grand- children; six great grandchil- dren; and numerous nieces and nephews. DOUGLAS BEDFORD PARRISH Douglas Bedford Parrish, 69, of Mooresboro passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020 at the Brian Health and Rehabilitation Center in Gastonia, NC. Born in Upshur County, TX on September 24, 1950 he was the son of the late J.D. Parrish and Ila Lorraine Akin. He was a retired accountant from Zales Diamond Company. Mr. Parrish attended ser- vices at Sandy Run Baptist Church in Mooresboro, NC and was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal church while living in Irving, TX. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother James "Jimmy" Parrish. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Parrish; daugh- ter, Lauren Parrish; brother Donald Parrish and his wife Shirley of Conroe, TX; a sis- ter-in-law Susan Crumpton; two nephews Robert and Matthew; and five nieces Kim, Stacey, Kelly, Marci, and Olivia. She was born March 7, 1935 in Cherokee County to the late R. L. and Floy Jolly Cobb. Hannah was a member of 2nd Baptist Church of Cherryville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Eugene White, her siblings, Bill Cobb, Molly Norman, Jessie Cobb, and Tessie Mahaffey; daughter, Kathy Ann White Mace; and her grandson, Jason Mace. She is survived by her children, Robert White and Kristy White, of the home; brother, Roddy Lee Cobb (Shirley) of Kings Mountain, granddaughter, Angela Mace; great-grandson, Josh Mace; special grandson, Aiden McSwain; special friends, Diane McSwain, Joyce Huss, and Jane McLamb; and her fur baby, Toby-Joe.
