C-2 Church Wednesday, December 18, 2019 The Press-Dispatch Continued from page 1 SOMETHING NEWSWORTHY? Give us a call: 812-354-8500 Continued on page 3 Continued in next column "Twas the night be- fore Christmas, when all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse." Cause I ate him! This week, PAWS is featuring a mischievous young cat named Toby, who is always looking for some type of excitement and if he can't find any, he will make his own. He is a very fun- loving, gregarious, short- haired tabby with gray, ti- ger-striped markings and white accents. Toby can be adopted for $25. This is a great bar- gain as he is neutered and has all his shots. Due to severe overcrowding at PAWS, the adoption fee for cats has been reduced, in hopes of finding more of our felines homes for the Holidays. Two cats can be adopted for $40. PAWS has a lot of beautiful felines to choose from, so stop in and find a forever friend. Call 812-354-9894 to adopt. PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the TOBY Independent AYRSHIRE VALLEY G.B. But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of men, but of God" ( John 1:9 -13). "She brought forth her firstborn Son and laid Him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn" (Luke 2:7). No room for Jesus? No room for the King of Kings? No, but room for others and for other things. There was no room for Jesus in the world that He had made— imagine. Things have not really changed since that Bethlehem night over two thousand years ago. God is still on the fringes of most of our lives. We fit Him in when it's convenient for us, but we become irritated when He makes demands on us. If God would only stay in His little box and come out when we pull the string. Our lives are so full. There is so much to be do- ne. But in our busy activi- ties, are we in danger of ex- cluding from our hearts and lives the One who made us? We should be saying "Oh, come to my heart, Lord Je- sus; there is room in my heart for you." May each and every- one have a wonderful and blessed Merry Christmas. Jesus is the reason for the season. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. I am sure you will receive a blessing from God above. May God bless each and ev- eryone. God's Plan Thousand of years before that first Christmas, God set in motion his plan. It in- volved the creation itself as he created a place that would sustain life, and make the New Creation possible. The Apostle Peter writes, "For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life hand- ed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or de- fect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last time for your sake" (I Peter 2:18 -20). "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come. All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself though Christ" (II Corinthi- ans 5:17-18a). In Philippians 1:20, Paul expresses a hope that he and others are praying for: the hope not to be a disgrace in the eyes of the Lord for their behavior, especially when or if a choice must be displayed in their actions be- tween serving Christ or dy- ing a painful death. These days we need not look hard for those who disgrace themselves, oth- ers, and especially God. We need to continue pray- ing that their hearts change from seeking their own self- ish wants for power they can never truly have to seeking God in a truly repentive way. We also need to pray that God's will prevails as it shall in the end, and that we serve His will in every ac- tion, word and thought in a way that honors Him and His name, not disgracing Him, others or ourselves. The perfected type of ser- vice was displayed in the life of Jesus. Take note that ser- vice God's way is not always a way that is expected, but is never selfish. Kevin ( Janna) Easton, Pastor It's a time where people's hearts are warmed by the story of the Christ-child com- ing to earth to save the souls of mankind. Even though it has been so heavily com- mercialized and "Santa" has overshadowed the true meaning, God still uses this time to turn men's hearts and minds to Himself. In this sea- son of gift-giving and pres- ents, let's purpose to wel- come HIS PRESENCE for Christmas. That is the most important "present" of all. Chad Searls, Pastor
