Pike Central JV drops game to Barr-Reeve By Dennis Marshall Press-Dispatch Sports Editor sports@pressdispatch.net The Pike Central junior varsity boys' basketball team suffered a tough loss to Barr-Reeve on Friday, Dec. 13 at PCHS. The Vikings defeated the Chargers, 56 -23. "It was a rough game for us," Pike Central JV coach Josh Roach said. "We do a lot of good things defen- sively, but are struggling to score. I have to put them in better positions so they can get better looks. It's a work in progress, but they are al- ways up for the task." Peyton Howald led the team with six points. He was followed by Kendrick Sorgius (5), Garrett Boyd (3), Ashton Evans (3), Alex Clark (2), Traylor Hunter (2) and Connor Young (2). The team hosted Boon- ville on Tuesday, Dec. 17 and will be back in action on Monday, Dec. 30 in the North Daviess Junior Var- sity Tournament. FRESHMEN LOSE TO RANGERS Pike Central's freshmen team lost 43-23 to Forest Park on Tuesday, Dec. 10. "The final score doesn't indicate how close this game was," Pike Central freshmen coach Joe Cham- berlain said. "They didn't blow us out by any means, just made a few more plays each quarter that we didn't. They pulled away late in the third. We did a pretty good job defensively, they just moved the ball real- ly well and hit their open looks. Their size advan- tage helped them on the boards. I gave the reserve guys most of the minutes in the fourth and they played really well. They needed some quality minutes. We still haven't put together a full game yet." The team traveled to South Knox on Monday, Dec. 16. They will also be on the road at North Posey on Thursday, Dec. 19. 6th Grade boys basketball versus Boonville Members of the Pike Central sixth-grade boys basketball team compete against Boonville on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
