"Don't despair," is the message that often comes without words, but lifts the heart again. "I will give you assured peace in this place "( Jere- miah 14:13). "Worry," is like sitting in a rocking chair. It will give you something to do, but it won't get you anywhere. Worry and anxiety have hounded the human race since the beginning of time, and modern man with all its innovations has not found the cure for the plague of worry. What is the answer? Imagine in your mind a fe- rocious ocean storm beating against a rocky shore. The lightning flashes, the thun- der roars, the waves lash the rocks, but then imag- ine that you see a crevice in the rocky cliff and inside is a little bird, its head serene- ly tucked under its wing, fast asleep. It knows the rock will protect it, and thus it sleeps in peace. God promised Moses, "I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with my hand" (Exodus 33:22). That is God's promise to us. Christ is our Rock, and we are secure in His hands for- ever. The storm rages, but our hearts are at rest. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. I am sure you will receive a blessing from God above. May God bless each and ev- eryone. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter (Genesis 1:31). Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Regular services: Sunday school 9:30 a.m. and worship service and the Lord's Supper at 10 :30 a.m. A couple weeks ago, I wrote about giving up. More impor- tantly not giving up. Some of us feel like our life is like that project in the garage, or the jigsaw puzzle on the table, unfinished. Unfinished with- out the urgency or the moti- vation to finish. And I encour- aged, don't give up. You see Paul tells us in the scriptures that we are hard-pressed on every side. That seemingly in life, we feel like life at times is coming down on us from every angle. When that happens, we just want to give up. But that isn't where the verse ends. In fact, what Paul actually says is "We are hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair. What Paul wants us to know that in Christ, though we are faced with the harshest reali- ties, our hope goes deeper and farther than our greatest de- spair. The hope and the prom- ise is what we carry around. If you read further in II Corin- thians 4:8 -12 you come to see that though we bear the bur- den of death in this life, it is Je- sus' life that is revealed. Don't give up. Grace and Peace. Everyone welcome. DJ Bryant, Pastor VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. Grace A fellow at a prayer meet- ing said, "I ain't what I ought to be, and I ain't what I'm gonna be, but I sure ain't what I was." The Apostle Paul said it this way, "For I am least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecut- ed the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me" (I Corinthians 15:9 -10). "Thy word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin against thee" (Psalm 119:11). The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its pre- cepts are binding, its his- tories are true and its deci- sions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be ho- ly. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, comfort to cheer you. It is the TWIN OAKS CHURCH 1911 E. Co. Rd. 650 N. Samuel Kinnaman, Pastor Doris Catt, Reporter Independent and remind ourselves that the devil twists the scripture for His own purposes to lead people astray. These people want their own way, instead of God's. But their time and ours is swiftly coming to an end, because 'the last hour' is a reference to time run- ning out. We need to stay ground- ed in the Word to show oth- ers that God can and does change people. It's His love that saves, His blood that covers, His work we do, His fruit we display, His Truth we believe, and His Word we obey. The time is now. Don't waste what is left of it. Change begins within, one person at a time, minute by minute, choice by choice. Jesus is waiting for your an- swer, but He won't wait forev- er. The clock is ticking; the hour is coming to a close. Don't miss the blessing He has for you. Denny Wiscaver, Pastor Kimberly Flynn, Reporter
