One of their members, Rem- ine Moss, suggested that members wear purple to the meeting, get a photograph, and share with Social Me- dia and local newspapers to support the National Auxiliary Organization's idea to "Pur- ple Up! For Military Kids Day" which is on April 18. The Auxiliary is a big sup- porter of not only veterans, but active duty service mem- bers and their families as well. The initiative aims to bring attention to our mili- tary's youth, and is a way to thank and support them for their sacrifi ces and strength, The color purple represents a mixture of all the military branches: blue for Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard, green for Army, and red for Marine Corps. Auxiliary units nationwide were encouraged to show their support on So- cial Media by posting photos of themselves wearing purple and using hashtags #Amer- icanLegion Auxiliary and #purple up.
