Petersburg seniors will meet at the Courthouse basement on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Postcards this week at Sweets Col- umn Winslow, 47598 were none in the ol' mailbox. Not too much rain since November 5, so the Patoka River hasn't risen like the White and Ohio Rivers. The temps have been cool this past week, but the wind has changed from South to the North so the temps will feel like win- ter instead of fall, plus there might be snow flurries. Since this is November it's also time for the many hunters to be in the woods to get some of that tasty meat from the animal we all love to see, the deer. So to all those hunters from now until the end of the year, good luck and stay safe in your tree stands. I hope you all voted for the right per- son for the job, we did, and the Town of Winslow will have Debra Lamb, Josh Popp and Richard Brewster as our Town Council and Stacy Worthington as our Clerk-Treasurer to serve our cit- izens starting in January 2019. We are so glad to see that many of our stars got out and voted. I heard that the poll- ing place was busy all day long. Norm and I had a limb over the parking space that had to be cut down cause it had a split that you could see through. So Norm got out the chainsaw and ladder and started the cutting pro- cess. But as he began his cut, we were hoping that it would fall in the drive- way and not on the Normulance, and it worked out that it fell down so easy and slow, and landed just where we want- ed it to. Then the cleanup began and in no time all was picked up. Now it looks like we never cut anything unless you look at the burn pile that the limbs are sitting at, soon to be burned. Happy to have Terri Ann here over the weekend to visit with Mom for a few days before she left to go back with George and Deby. Mom didn't get to see all who she wanted to see, but be- fore Laura took her home she got to visit with Kyana for a few hours. Out in Arthur there was a big Maple tree that fell and enough wood that a dump truck could be used if the guys decide to cut it all up. Leaves, leaves, and more leaves ev- erywhere, but not all the trees have their leaves falling as of yet, but it won't be long and all you could see is bare trees. The colors of fall were real- ly beautiful to see all over Pike County, and if you didn't see them you missed a really great year of colors. Now the raking and bagging of the leaves for the compost pile or mulching them up with the lawn mower. So to all the kids, if you need to be outside and have fun with your friends just get a rake and pile those leaves up then jump into them and start this process all over again. Don't forget to put the rakes up when you are finished with your fun. Our great friends Mike and Lucy Gamble have bought a piece of land by the Patoka River here in Winslow and the cabins have begun to be built by their sons Matthew and Heath with help from Mike Whitney. They boys have already built one cabin and start- ed on another and have plans to build another cabin near Petersburg. Call these guys for a cabin of your own. They have a dock set up and soon the fish will be caught and filleted for a fish fry event. Mike and Lucy, we are glad to have you guys be a part of our little town of Winslow. As the lights begin to dim on this weeks ramblings of Winslow, don't forget to keep an eye on family and friends; slow down and see the won- ders in your area; and as always smile, wave, and say Hi to everyone you see this week.
