AREA HAPPENINGS Petersburg Senior Citizens Center - The senior citi- zens center is open from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday in the Pike County Courthouse base- ment. Getting Ready for Baby Brother or Sister - Class is offered by Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center to help older brothers and sisters prepare for the arrival of a new baby. The next class will be on Wednesday, Septem- ber 12 from 6 -7 p.m. in Memorial Hospital's Mary Potter Meeting Room at 800 West 9th Street, Jasper. The class is intended for children over the age of four and includes a tour of the nursery and demonstrations in infant holding, burping, feeding, and changing a dia- per. Children are asked to bring a doll or teddy bear and a blanket to practice the skills. Parents are asked to at- tend this class along with their children. This class is free for the children of those who are de- livering at Memorial Hospital or $10. Pre-registration is necessary. "Preparation for Childbirth" Class - It is known that the more you know about your pregnancy and child- birth, the better you will be able to cope with and adjust to changes during this time. Expectant parents are in- vited to attend Memorial Hospital and Health Care Cen- ter's "Preparation for Childbirth" classes held on Thurs- day, September 20 from 6 -9 p.m. "Preparation for Childbirth" is class to help prepare ex- pectant mothers and support persons for childbirth, in- cluding a tour of the Women and Infant Services Unit. It is recommended that both mother and the support per- son who will assist the mother during delivery of the ba- by attend the class. This class is at 721 West 13th Street, Jasper, in Memo- rial Hospital's Medical Arts Building Conference Center. It is free to those who are delivering at Memorial Hospi- tal or $ 65.
