Trusting God vs. Possessions "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." (Psalm 20 :7, NLT). This verse stands as a beautiful reminder of who we should put our trust in at all times. It is hard in this world of material worth and wealth not to put our trust in our possessions. As Christians though, we need to remember that God is our only true help in this world, and is tru- ly worthy of our trust and praise. Now, this doesn't mean that God cannot or will not use these material things to bless us and help us through our trials, just that we need to remember that God is the one with the plan and is deserving or our trust during our tur- moil, not our possessions. God bless you and keep you. See our Facebook page Glezen Revival Center. Website: grcenter.net – E- mail address: glezenreviv- alcenter@yahoo.com. It's true, we are His beloved children. And in the same way the world didn't recognize Him, the world does not recognize us either. When we feel like we are not good enough to be loved by God, we should remember that God's love is greater than our doubts. We must silence the sounds of condemnation so we can hear the voice of God's lov- ing assurance and remem- ber that He has selected us to be part of His family. My loved ones, we have been ad- opted into God's family; and we are officially His children now. The full picture of our destiny is not yet clear, but we know this much: when Je- sus appears, we will be like Him because we will see Him just as He is—I John 3:1-2 VOICE. • Big News Party for the youth, grades six-12, this Sunday evening from 6 -8 p.m. at the Esteem Coffee Shop, in Petersburg with snacks, prizes, games and give-aways. • Usher training this Sun- day, August 12, immediately following the service. • Prophetic worship, Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. and also on Facebook live, Don Priest. • Your change can change the world' will help a mis- sionary in India to dig wells for local communities. "Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have cruci- fied the flesh with its pas- sions and desires" (Gala- tians 5:24). I'm a quitter that has lived in quittersville all my life un- til the last few years. What's the difference you might say. I wish to follow Jesus, and in Luke He said that I need to deny my flesh and do what He wants. Galatians says the same. So lately I've been wanting to quit something and finally in my lightning fast mind I prayed and asked God what He wanted me to do. He said "NO", stay, don't quit. My flesh is screaming "I don't like this, I'd rather watch T V." My Lord shall have His way. How about you? Denny Wiscaver, Pastor Pam Nutter, Reporter Lutheran Lutheran ST. Sermon Series: "Com- pelled by Love." Sermon Title: "Called to Love." Scripture reading: Jonah 2:8 -10. Theme Statement: A very common theme of the New Testament writers is a call to love, which can also be found in the Old Testament book of Jonah. Futhermore, we are all called to reach the lost. We must all come to a point of understanding the importance of sharing the love of Christ. There are three ways of sharing the love of Christ. 1. It is a passion. 2. It is compassion. 3. It is a mission. Leon Pomeroy, Pastor PETERSBURG FREE METHODIST CHURCH 202 E. Jo- nah was, and we all may expe- rience this in our lives. When Jonah did obey God, and the people of Ninevah were saved, Jonah was upset.
