The change includes replacing the fixtures and displays, and expanding the line of Hallmark merchandise and gifts. Mrs. Leavitt said a Gold Crown designation would give the store access to a broader line of Hallmark merchandise. The crew planned to complete the installation by Wednesday evening, and have the store open for business on Thursday. Marge's Hallmark is located on 716 Main, Petersburg. Details announced for the Lilly Endowment Scholarship The Pike County Commu- nity Foundation is now ac- cepting applications online for the 2019 Lilly Endow- ment Community Scholar- ship Program. The scholar- ship is open to Indiana high school students who will be graduating from an accred- ited Indiana high school by June 2019. Details related to conditions of the award, eli- gibility and selection crite- ria are available on the Com- munity Foundation's website at CommunityFoundation- Alliance.org/Pike. Deadline to apply is August 31, 2018. The 2019 Pike Lilly En- dowment Community Scholar(s) will be named in mid-December 2018. Quali- fied applicants will be a res- ident of Indiana; be a grad- uate of Pike Central High School by June 2019 or a student planning to gradu- ate from the Indiana Acad- emy by June 2019, provided they attended Pike Central High School before trans- ferring to the Academy; be in the top 10 percent of their class as of the end of junior year; demonstrate a commit- ment to community activi- ties outside of school; and be available for an interview on September 23, 2018, with the scholarship committee, if selected as a finalist. The scholarship provides full-tuition, required fees, and an annual stipend of up to $ 900 for required books and equipment for four years of full-time undergraduate study leading to a baccalau- reate degree. The Commu- nity Foundation will nomi- nate one student to receive the scholarship. The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program is a statewide pro- gram administered by lo- cal community foundations throughout Indiana. The Community Foundation ad- ministers the program lo- cally in conjunction with the Community Foundation Al- liance (our governing body) and local high schools, and Independent Colleges of In- diana (ICI) provides state- wide oversight of the pro- gram. The Lilly Endowment is an Indianapolis-based, pri- vate philanthropic foun- dation, created in 1937 by members of the Lilly Fami- ly. In keeping with the wish- es of the founding members, the Lilly Endowment exists to support the causes of edu- cation, religion and commu- nity development. Since the program was first introduced in 1998, Lil- ly Endowment has remained steadfast in its belief that ed- ucation at all levels is indis- pensable to the personal, civic and economic well-be- ing of Indiana residents and communities. The scholarships are the result of a statewide Lilly En- dowment initiative to help raise the level of education- al attainment in Indiana; in- crease awareness of the ben- eficial roles Indiana commu- nity foundations can play in their communities; and en- courage and support the ef- forts of current and past Lil- ly Endowment Communi- ty Scholars to engage with each other and with Indiana business, governmental, ed- ucational, nonprofit and civ- ic leaders to improve the quality of life in Indiana gen- erally and in local commu- nities throughout the state. The Pike County Com- munity Foundation is one of nine county affiliates of the Community Founda- tion Alliance. Each year, the Foundation collaborates with all three Pike County high schools to nominate a student(s) for the Lilly En- dowment Community Schol- ar award. The Communi- ty Foundation Alliance is comprised of affiliate Foun- dations serving counties throughout southwestern Indiana. The Alliance provides each affiliate with manage- ment, administrative, and development expertise and services, so every local Foundation can focus on pro- moting philanthropy, build- ing endowment, and making a difference in their commu- nity. Through the establish- ment of endowed funds cre- ated by caring donors to benefit community causes, Alliance affiliates work to improve the quality of life in their counties by distrib- uting a portion of funds' earnings to local non-prof- it organizations, in the form of annual scholarships and grants.
