Butch will also discuss what led to the ultimate decline and abandonment of the iron industry in this part of North Carolina. Butch was born in Lincoln County but grew up and lives in Gaston County. He attended school in Stanley, graduated from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C. and is currently employed by Gaston County Dyeing and Machine in Mount Holly, N.C.
