Gerald Witkowski, media contact for the Wauwatosa Police Department. ���She had been shot numerous times,��� Witkowski said during a press conference Sebena Monday afternoon. Sebena, a Menomonee Falls resident who joined the Wauwatosa department in January 2011, had been on patrol in the early morning hours on Monday. Dispatchers attempted to contact her between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., but she hadn���t responded, Witkowski said. He described Sebena as a ���great person and great officer.��� ���Our hearts are really heavy,��� Witkowski said. ���You just can���t believe something like this could occur.��� Sebena���s body was found in an area bordered by Wauwatosa Avenue and Church Street to the west, Milwaukee Avenue to the north and Harmonee Avenue south, he said. She was the first officer killed in the line of duty during the Police Department���s 96-year history, Witkowski said on Tuesday. Funeral services are tentatively scheduled for Saturday. He couldn���t reveal whether Sebena had been in her squad car, whether she had exchanged gunfire with the assailant or assailant, or even what kind of gun was the murder weapon, Witkowski said. Neither the DOJ nor the Police Department released any more information about the ���person of interest��� before deadline. Other departments assisting the investigation are those of Brookfield, Butler, Greendale and Oak Creek, plus the Milwaukee County Sheriff���s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol, said Witkowski. Anyone with information about the shooting can share it with the police department at 771-8672, he added. The Wauwatosa Peace Officers Association has created a memorial fund for Sebena���s funeral expenses, as well as a cause to be named later.
