FRIDAY, JULY 27, 2018 SANTA CRUZ SENTINEL Zone" Parks and Open Spaces (this zone includes Pogonip), she supervises the landscape and facility maintenance crews that care for Pogonip—as well as Harvey West Park, City Hall and a few downtown areas including Laurel Park. When she started her job with the City in 1984, she was literally on the trails. "Unfortunately my days of working physically on the trails are behind me, but I do have the fortune of managing improvement projects related to the trails as well as the Summer Youth Trails Program every year," says Rhodeos. Rhodeos is grateful to have the job she does, and enjoys exploring Pogonip on her personal time as well. "I love the opportunity to be out in the trees and quiet relatively quickly, so close to town," she shares. "I love that I can connect with coyotes and other wildlife occasionally." She also enjoys seeing people out and "off their phones and away from the busy world. Being a part of the organization that works towards providing these opportunities for the public is rewarding." Speaking of the aforementioned wildlife, there is quite a lot of this in Pogonip and the habitat's trees include oak, madrone, bay, conifers, Douglas fir and redwoods.
