Point of Interest is that Jim and Sherry Lamey are proud great grandparents to Stel- la Kayte Lamey born on No- vember 14th, 2017, weighing 8lbs 15oz, and 19 ½ in long. Congrats to Jim and Sherry and welcome Stella Kayte. I also read where Miss Claira Jayne Dunn lost her first tooth (you all know, the one in front) at age 4 years 8 months and 20 days. I know the tooth fairy was grateful for your first tooth. The Patoka Riv- er is up from all the rain last week but not to the overflow mark. The temps here in Winslow have been in the 35 -40 degrees for daytime and around 30 degree at night. A few days it got up to 60 degrees but back to the cold temps. Fri- day night into Saturday we had a storm come through with strong winds that left limbs all over the yard. I al- so heard street lights were down in Petersburg on Main Street. Outside our back door I saw a big limb fall from a tree when a wind gust came through. This storm also brought the cold damp windy weather from the North West on Sunday, but even with the sun shin- ing it was Bone Chilling cold for some of us. Pike County was also greeted with Fog and it was dense in some areas on Wednesday night from Spurgeon to Winslow. When we got to the Brown- stown area you couldn't see the road on 3rd street. Saturday was the start of shotgun for deer, weeks be- fore was bow and black pow- der season. Good Luck to ev- eryone who is or will go out and get your buck or doe. To those who don't go hunting and travel the roads, please keep an eye open for them as they try to get away from be- ing someone's dinner. Last Monday was the Winslow Town Hall meet- ing, so Norm and I decid- ed to check it out. Wouldn't you know, Norm is lining up the Christmas Parade on December 2 at 10 a.m. in Winslow at the Fire Sta- tion with line up at 9 a.m. Norm has already invited quite a few stars and most of them said they were plan- ning to attend, so to every- one, yes this is for everyone, you are all invited either in the parade with Santa, or as an onlooker. At 10 a.m. the Winslow Christmas Parade will leave the Station House and travel North on Main Street to the Sports Field. See you all there – it's for all the kids and the kids at heart to kick off the Christ- mas Season. The Igloo was a good sight to see as there was an overflow of vehicles on open- ing day when breakfast was served starting at 7 a.m. till 1 p.m. Kris said she was real- ly surprised to see so many on that first opening. They are open with new hours from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Our star Kim Messmer has made it big time, as we found out, after talking to Mark. Kim Messmer will be on New York Time Square Jumbo Tron on or around December 2. We are work- ing more details. Thanksgiving is here and all of us at Sweets Column hope you all have a great day as we all give thanks for all the blessings we have had this whole year. We are al- so grateful for each of our stars who read my ram- blings of Winslow. I'm fix- ing a turkey and sweet po- tatoes and those big pump- kins will be made into pies, but no matter where you eat or who makes it, our hope is that you spend this day with family and friends.
