FROM THE PUBLISHER With Boston mayoral candidate Mike Ross at Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries' Good Party. With Elena Krupennikova and Robert Weintraub at our Newport Glambake. ABOVE: Here I am with Russian Standard Vodka's Rasheda Petty as well as Jason Weissman and Paul Bernon, who were toasted for their work with the documentary Best Kept Secret at Via Matta. LEFT: With Judy and Frank Neer at our final summer party at The Newport Beach Club. Common ended the summer with our Glambake in Newport at The Newport Beach Club with William Grant & Sons, Stella Artois, Chateau d'Esclans, Clarke, and Kawasaki. Raising a toast in the fading sunshine was the perfect way to celebrate the end of a beautiful season. Boston Common was also thrilled to partner with Russian Standard Vodka at Via Matta to fête successful businessmen and philanthropists Sean Curran, Paul Bernon, and Jason Weissman, who provided the financial backing for the documentary Best Kept Secret. It was so nice to join Joe Fallon (one of the stars of our "Building Boston" feature), who once again helped bring the Red Bull Cliff Diving event to the ICA on Fan Pier. His viewing party was the ultimate vantage point for watching this thrilling event —and for taking in the Seaport, a beautiful, bustling area of the city that has quickly become a magnet for residents and restaurants. With everyone back in town from various sunny locales, the city hummed with events in September. We celebrated the new John Varvatos store at Copley Place and are Follow me on Facebook at very happy to have the designer Facebook.com/boston-common and on (and his striking leather jackets) bostoncommon-magazine.com. in Boston. It was wonderful to be on hand for Boston Ballet's Night of Stars, commemorating its 50th year as a company. They staged a full-size ballet on Boston Common so that everyone could have the opportunity to watch the graceful dancers. The following morning, we joined The Boston Cup 2013, the second annual classic car show on Boston Common, for a parade of vintage cars, each one seemingly more beautiful than the last. Watching the proud owners stand near their lovingly restored cars, I had the sudden urge to take up a new hobby. We are thrilled to have Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo on our cover. The team is poised for a big season, and we are looking forward to watching Mayo help bring another Super Bowl win back to Foxboro. PHOTOGRAPHY BY MICHAEL BLANCHARD (ROSS); MARC DELEY (RUSSIAN STANDARD); RYAN STRANZ (GLAMBAKE, NEWPORT BEACH CLUB) It has been one busy and exciting fall season, but I wouldn't expect anything less from this city.
