B-8 Wednesday, September 23, 2020 The Press-Dispatch PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the TRAPPER AND RAGGS "There's nothing like an old dog. Nothing like the love of an old dog. The joy, the forgiveness, the devo- tion. You see gratitude in their eyes. It's just words un- til you experience it"—Deb- orah Workman. This week, PAWS is fea- turing two of the sweetest canines you will ever meet. A Collie mix named Trap- per and a Pekingese named Raggs. Trapper was adopt- ed from PAWS approximate- ly nine years ago and lived a robust life with his owner. Trapper's human felt Trap- per needed a canine buddy and rescued Raggs. The two became best friends. These fur babies lost their human companion a few weeks ago. They were brought back to PAWS as no one in the fami- ly could care for them. They are grieving the loss of their owner and desperately need a new loving home where they can be together. Both fellows are calm natured, and very well behaved. They are in good health, but Trap- per has a bit of arthritis. They are housebroken and affectionate dogs. To inquire about Trapper and Raggs, call 812-354-9894. SOMETHING NEWSWORTHY? Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 This past Sunday we wrapped up our series, We are the Church, looking at how the New Testament calls us all as a church to go, and be disci- ple makers. Though we all in the body of Christ have differ- ent gifts, we all have one call. If you missed any of the three messages from this series I in- vite you to find them on our Facebook page. For many of us the season during this pandemic has been tough, plans have changed, 2020 didn't go the way we ex- pected it to. And some days we don't know what is next. But I remain encouraged that as we go on we can still find hope. We still find hope in God's sov- ereignty. Joseph in the Old Testament told his brothers "You meant this for evil." Meaning they intended evil for him, to beat him, sell him to slavery, and ultimately hope he would die in Egypt, and never to hear of him again. But he continues "God meant it for good…" Jo- seph doesn't say that God de- cided to show up in the midst of the chaos and work with what was there. Not even while his brothers were wishing and doing evil, God was setting up a good that no one could fore- see. So, while the enemy us- es pandemics, pestilence, dis- ease, violence, and death for evil, God is working for the ultimate good. The good we see when we see Christ on the throne, and as the psalm- ist says the earth has been made his footstool. Continue to take heart, and have hope. VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. State Rd. 56 Sunday morning worship and the Lord's supper at 9:30 a.m.; Sunday school at 10 :30 a.m. We will meet in accor- dance to social distancing and with face masks. You are invit- ed to worship with us. This Sunday evening at 5 p.m., we will have our annu- al wiener roast. This will be a good time to fellowship. Ev- eryone is encouraged to come. Love Someone said, "Love will find a way, indifference an ex- cuse." "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begot- ten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" ( John 3:16). "And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the sec- ond: You shall love your neigh- bor as yourself" (Mark 12:30 - 31a). Because He lives. Also, remem- ber to pray for the USA, peace, health and for one another. Amazing Peace and Saving "I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid. Remem- ber what I told you: I am go- ing away, but I will come back to you again." ( John 14:27-28, NLT). How amazing is it that Jesus will one day come back for us? He is the giver of peace and the redeemer of all that are lost. In days like these, peace is so hard to obtain and keep. But Jesus is here to bring us CHRISTIAN HOLINESS CHURCH 1252 St. Rd. 57 S. Petersburg Located six miles between Petersburg and Oakland City junction. Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; morning worship 10 :30 a.m.; evening service 6 p.m.; Thurs- day prayer meeting 7 p.m. We extend a warm welcome to everyone. Rick Walburn, Pastor that sought-out peace and all we have to do is accept him in- to our lives and keep his com- mandments. We must strive everyday to be like him, and walk with him in prayer and repentance. To be saved from trouble like this world has nev- er seen, this is all we have to do. Yet some scoff and gri- mace at this, when he died for our sins and theirs. Pray for those others and yourself, that God will guide them and help you light a path to him.
