Rough week for volleyball team By Alden Heuring Pike Central volleyball lost three matches last week, but are looking to make a come- back, coach Stephanie Shedd said. On Monday, the girls played North Posey. Varsity scores were 11-25, 20 -25, 17-25. Erika Vinnedge had 4 kills, 2 blocks. Karley Kavanaugh had a serve per- centage of 100 percent with 1 ace, 12 digs, 2 assists. Alaina McClellan had 10 digs, 1 kill. Kenzie Powell had 6 assists, 11 digs. The junior varsity lost 13- 25, 11-25. Delaney Welch had 2 kills, 9 digs, 1 ace. Amilia Ahner had 1 ace, 1 dig. Mad- die Lamey had 1 kill, 1 dig. On Tuesday, the girls played Princeton, where the junior varsity picked up a win, de- feating Princeton 23-25, 25 - 19, 15 -8. Liberty Taylor had 3 kills, 1 ace, 7 digs. Delaney Welch had 11 assists, 19 digs, 3 aces. Maddie Lamey had 1 block, 3 kills, 6 digs. Emily Krieg had 1 block, 4 kills, 4 digs. Addie Faulk had 1 kill, 2 aces, 2 digs. The varsity lost 15 -25, 13- 25, 22-25. Maddie Williams had 1 ace, 9 kills, 2 blocks, 5 digs, 3 as- sists. Jaize Mills had 7 digs, 1 kill. Erika Vinnedge had 1 block, 4 kills. Kenzie Powell had 16 digs, 8 assists. Kar- ley Kavanaugh had 8 digs, 11 assists. Neeley Correll had 8 digs, 2 assists. Lexie Onyett had 21 digs, 1 kill. "Maddie Williams played a really great game," Shedd said. "She played well all the way around. The second set was close. We worked hard, but not well enough through- out the entire match to pull it all together for a win." On Thursday, the C team got a chance to play against Boonville, losing 8 -25, 24-25. "The girls hustled and played well," Shedd said. "Ev- eryone was encouraging and worked as a team. They had some great plays and had great serves. We were proud of the way everyone played hard." The junior varsity picked up a set, but lost 16 -25, 25 -24, 6 -15. "The girls fought hard in the second set to come back and pull out the win in that set," Shedd said. "It just wasn't quite enough momentum to get them through to the end." The varsity lost 11-25, 11- 25, 22-25. Erika Vinnedge had 6 kills. Ashlyn Shoultz had 3 kills, 1 block, 8 digs. "It was a rough week," Shedd said, but, "We had a great practice on Friday to lead us into the round robin we are hosting on Saturday. Hopefully, we can pull out some wins and gain our con- fidence and momentum back." Chargers edged in three sets by the Lady Vikes The Pike Central Lady Charger seventh grade vol- leyball team fell to North Posey Vikings in three sets on the home court this past Thursday night. A two-point score in the final set was the difference in the contest. Coach Kinsey Barrett said, "It was a tough loss, but such a great, well-fought match and they left it all out on the court. The team alto- gether had 13 aces, 12 kills and 11 digs. We lost in three sets: 16 -25, 25 -19, 13-15." Erika Vinnedge bangs home a kill against Forest park.
