Middle school tennis bests South Knox 5-0 By James Capozella The Pike Central Middle School tennis team enjoyed a 5 -0 win over South Knox this past Monday evening. Char- ger Parker Knust won the number one singles match 8 - 4 and J.J Belmore netted a 9 - 2 win at number two singles. Eli Arnold followed suit with an 8 -1 Charger win at number three singles. Varsity doubles matches were won by Adon Lemond teaming with Carter Black- well (8 -6), and Nate Carter and Jayden Bolin (8 -2). In second round matches, Nolan Bailey and Tyler Col- lins won 6 -5 at number one doubles and Jayden Bolin was nipped 3-4 in singles. Llinkyn Knust and Nate Carter lost a doubles match by 2-6, and Jackson Brewster and J.J Belmore fell in a 5 -6 doubles match. The boys are coached by Phil Knust. Charger MS boys' tennis finds the going tough against Jasper Pike Central Middle School netters fell to Jasper, 1-5, on Thursday, Sept. 17. The Chargers' only win came at number four sin- gles, as Adon Lemond won his match 6 -4. In other sin- gles play, Parker Knust fell 1- 6, Eli Arnold lost 3-6 and J.J. Bellmore was shutout 0 -6. In varsity doubles, Nolan Bailey and Carter Blackwell lost 0 -6, and Nate Carter and Jaden Bolin fell 1-6. Second round scores in singles play were: Adon Le- mond 0 -6; Eli Arnold, 1-6; Parker Knust 1-6; and J.J. Bellmore 2-6. Second round doubles scores were Tyler Collins and Eli Keeker 1-6, 0 -6; Kade Benner and Kody Carter 0 - 6,0 -6, 2-6; Llinkyn Knust and Jackson Brewster 1-6, 1-6; Nate Carter and Jaden Bolin 4-6; and Nolan Bailey and Carter Blackwell 0 -6. The loss left the Chargers 3-4 on the season. Coach Phil Knust said, "We played a very good Jas- per team. We played well overall. This was a good ex- perience for us to play a team like this." Bellmore returns a ground shot during his number three singles match with Elijah Brosmer, of Forest Park. Bellmore was edged by Brosmer, 7-8. PC Middle School tennis team falls to Forest Park Eli Arnold picked up the only win for Pike Central Middle School tennis team with a victory over Forest Park's Corbin Persohn as the Charger varsi- ty fell to the Rangers, 4-1. The Chargers lost three close matches to Forest Park. Pike Cen- tral's Parker Knust was edged by Brock Schuler, 6 -8 in number two singles, and number three singles J.J. Bellmore, of Pike Central, lost a close match to Elijah Brosmer, 7-8. In doubles action, number one dou- bles team of Jaden Bolin and Carter Blackwell also fell in a close match to Jared Burger and Aiden Nord, 6 - 8. Nate Carter and Adon Lemond fell to the Rangers, 1-8. Coach Phil Knust said, "We played some tough matches. The score could easily have been in our favor, 4-1. We had some mental letdowns in those matches. We need to cut down on er- rors, and improve our footwork." Second round singles scores were: Eli Keeker 2-4, Kade Benner 0 -4 and Carter Blackwell 1-6. Second round doubles scores were: Nolan Bailey/Tyler Collins 2- 6, Llinkyn Knust/Kody Carter 0 -6, Jackson Brewster/Tyler Collins 1-6, Eli Arnold/J.J. Bellmore 5 -6 and Na- te Carter/Nolan Bailey 1-4. Jayden Bolin returns a lob to the Forest Park number two doubles team of Jared Burger and Aiden Nord during their varsity match.
