Dr. Robert Asa, Minister Regular services: Sun- day school 9:30 a.m. and worship service and the Lord's Supper at 10 :30 a.m. A couple weeks ago, I wrote about giving up. More importantly not giv- ing up. Some of us feel like our life is like that project in the garage, or the jigsaw puzzle on the table, unfin- ished. Unfinished without the urgency or the motiva- tion to finish. And I encour- aged, don't give up. You see Paul tells us in the scrip- tures that we are hard- pressed on every side. That seemingly in life, we feel like life at times is com- ing down on us from every angle. When that happens, we just want to give up. But that isn't where the verse ends. In fact, what Paul ac- tually says is "We are hard- pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair. What Paul wants us to know that in Christ, though we are faced with the harshest realities, our hope goes deeper and farther than our greatest despair. The hope and the promise is what we carry around. If you read further in II Corinthians 4:8 -12 you come to see that though we bear the burden of death in this life, it is Jesus' life that is revealed. Don't give up. Grace and Peace. Everyone welcome. DJ Bryant, Pastor Church of Christ BRENTON CHAPEL CHURCH OF CHRIST 1194 E. CR 400 N. "Lying lips are an abomi- nation to the Lord, but they that deal truly are his de- light" (Proverbs 12:22). The first sin ever commit- ted in this world was a lie. It was in the Garden of Eden. Satan told Eve a lie to get her to break God's command- ment. Telling a lie is like letting a wild beast out of a cage. You can never tell how many people that animal will wound or kill before he is caught again. Telling a lie is like loosening a great rock at the top of a mountain and letting it go plunging down the side of the mountain. God is generous and mer- ciful to His people, but our choice to refuse His salva- tion and His rule in our lives brings on judgment. Make the choice for Jesus today and for each moment that follows.
