Mrs. Michelle LeMond's second graders are all smiles as they wait for their root beer and ice cream. The students used the root beer floats in their activity about solids, liquids and gases during Science class. Piper Thompson gives a thumbs up for her float. Paisley Benefiel enjoys her root beer float. Zander Logston has a root beer float during their class science activity. Korbin Trowbridge doing show and tell with his crown from the Buffalo Trace Festival. Mrs. Hoffman's first grade students from OMA visiting JTFD for Fire Safety Week. Logan Norman and other first grade students at OMA operating the light tower on the fire truck for Fire Safety Week. Second graders Dawson Pauw, Haiyden Goep- pner and Abel Satterfield are honing in on their mechanical engineer skills to create and code a windmill with their Lego WeDo 2 S.T.E.M. kit. Third grade student Sawyer Kabrick is deter- mining how far Otwell is from Rochester, N.Y. Student Council members Sawyer Kabrick, Braelyn Turner, Jaelynn Miley and Cooper Hart- ke sell Smencils to Hope Readle, Ryder Troutman (also on student council), Canton Capehart and Peyton Taylor. Mrs. Hoffman's first grade class at OMA prac- ticing spelling words by playing Spelling Scoot. Adessah Ross and Kyron Piersma cel- ebrate passing their five-minute math test. October 11 was Grandparents Day at Petersburg Elementary. Ms. Har- rell's fourth grade class enjoyed a dance party before beginning the day. She brought in her own record and player, which some of the students had never seen or heard before. This year's theme was the 50s! Escape, "The Masque of the Red Death" Mrs. Bohnert's class recently participated in a digital escape room over "The Masque of the Red Death." Students were provided literary and criti- cal thinking clues over the story that lead to addi- tional clues to "escape."
