Poplar Street, Petersburg Some golden daybreak, the trump is go- ing to sound and the dead in Christ shall rise first and we who are alive and remain shall be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. Then: "We must all appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Know- ing therefore the terror of the Lord, we per- suade men…" (II Cor. 5:10,11). When I stand at the Judgment Seat of Christ And He shows me His plan for me; The plan of my life as it might have been Had He had His way, and I see How I blocked Him here and checked Him there And I would not yield my will, Shall I see grief in my Savior's eyes; Grief though He loves me still? Oh, He'd have me rich, and I stand there poor, Stripped of all but His grace, While my memory runs like a hunted thing Down the paths I can't retrace. Then my desolate heart will well-nigh break With tears that I cannot shed. I'll cover my face with my empty hands And bow my uncrowned head. No! Lord of the years that are left to me I yield them to Thy hand. Take me, make me, mold me To the pattern Thou hast planned. —Author Unknown May God give us the strength to redeem the time wisely. Only one life; 'twill soon be past. Only what's done for Christ will last. Another week of meetings and still more to come. The committee that is working on Pike County Has Talent event for the Pike County 4-H Fair met Monday evening and has gotten close to being ready for July 28. It will be fun watching these acts compete with one another for a trophy and the op- portunity to compete at the state fair. It will take a little effort from us to keep it running smoothly. There will be flyers out with per- tinent information concerning this talent show and the categories available to com- pete in. Hope you find your talent and join us that day. With summer vacations and sinus prob- lems our work crews at the "Somebody's Place" food truck has been a little short at times. If you have a few minutes on Mon- day morning please consider showing up around 10 :30 a.m. to help with the unload- ing chore. Makes you feel good to help those in need and God does bless you for your efforts. Saturday morning I attended a meeting/ class for Region and Zone chairpersons for about three hours. It was informative about what is expected from Lions Club chair- men. One of the speakers brought the fact that we should be more open minded when we are working with different age groups of people. I didn't realize age could possibly be a factor in setting priorities and thought processes. A fter listening to this speaker you could see baby boomers and the other age groups have many thoughts that result in the same thought area but very different ways to ac- complish the desired goal. I always thought I knew it all, but there are many ways to ac- complish a task and not everything is as im- The Church Page is made possible by the following Firms and Businesses: Amber Manor Care Center Petersburg — 812-354-3001 Benner & Co. He re- mains the only person who can fill the void in the human heart and give purpose and meaning to human life. President Trump has placed a new em- phasis on Christianity. "In God we trust" and Christmas and Easter are now accept- able. Fame and wealth soon fade but the name of Jesus is still spoken millions of times ev- ery day. He is worshiped around the world as the Son of God and Savior of man. The Bi- ble says, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and for ever." (Hebrews 13:8) He remains the central figure in human histo- ry. We date our calendars B.C. and A.D. in honor of God's Son. There are more people who gather each Sunday in churches to worship Him than attend all the sport- ing events in a year. About 37 percent of the American peo- ple gather to worship and honor Him each Sunday. Most popu- lar figures are like a stick withdrawn from the sand. The wind and rain soon fill the hole and in time they are forgotten. Only the unwise scoff at Jesus and ig- nore His teachings. To the scoffers' sur- prise, someday they will bow before Him and listen to words from the lips of the one they rejected. Trust Him and believe in Him today and you will have eternal life. Place your faith in someone who never changes with the passing of time. PETERSBURG First Church of God 2135 E. Main St., Petersburg Presents VBS Program July 7 Registration starts at 8:30am • VBS ends at 3pm CLOSING PROGRAM: July 8 at 9:30am portant to everyone else. The speaker ran out of time but it was long enough to real- ize that perhaps we might be a little harsh in our judgments of our young people. I can't say for sure right now if there will ever be another Shred Day, but I will say this, we filled all but three bins that the mo- bile shredders brought to Petersburg Hard- ware parking lot to collect papers from folks who needed shredding done. It was fun meeting so many people and helping them unload their paper. We need to thank Pe- tersburg Hardware for letting us use their parking lot and the Pike County Chamber of Commerce for their efforts. We look for- ward to working with them again. At church Sunday morning our ser- mon covered the law being a good guide for our daily lives, but only the blood of Jesus and the Grace of God can save you. Noth- ing wrong using God's commandments as your marker for living a Christian life but just being good will not save you. You must accept Jesus as Saviour and back away from your sins to have a home in Eternity. Well be blessed and be a blessing. RIVER OF LIFE 342 E. CR 300 N. We will strive to be more like Jesus in all that we do. "But that no man is justi- fied by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that does them shall live in them" (Gala- tians 3:11-12). Joseph Roman, Pastor Clara Walls, Reporter not be defeated" (Psalm 62:6). Here is a big question— What is God doing when you are in a bind? When the lifeboat springs a leak? When the rip cord snaps? When the last penny is gone before the last bill is paid? What are we doing? Nibbling on nails like corn on the cob. Pacing floors. Taking pills. But what does God do? He fights for us. He steps into the ring and points us to our corner and takes over. "Remain calm; the Lord will fight for you" (Exodus 14:14). His job is to fight. Our job is to trust. Just trust. Not direct. Or ques- tion. Our job is to pray and wait. We appreciate all those who were able to help with Vacation Bible School and also to the parents who brought their children. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. Your presence will be greatly ap- preciated and I am sure you will receive God blessings.
