Nelson said he was able to use it to blow off a roof cap to vent the attic. They normally would have had to get someone on the roof to remove the cap. The house is owned by Lawrence Wilcoxen, of Washington. He was renting it to Katie Brock, who was home at the time of the fire. While firemen were able to knock down the initial flames in just minutes, they remained on the scene more than two hours venting the house and making sure all areas of the fire were out. Due to the temperatures being in the 90s, and the fire being during the work day, personnel from Jefferson, Patoka, Winslow, Spurgeon and Union townships in Pike County and Harrison Town- ship in Knox County all re- sponded. The Indiana State Fire Marshal's office is investi- gating the fire. Deputy McKinney said the paperwork stated Clark could drive Monday through Friday, but not on Saturday or Sunday. McKinney's report stated Clark told him he was driv- ing because he had picked up his son in Oakland City. When McKinney asked why Clark was driving west on Highway 56 when he had been to Oakland City, Clark said he decided to go shop- ping. Deputy Seger then located a black knife case behind Clark and found it contained a glass smoking device with a burned res- idue that field tested posi- tive for meth.
