The Press-Dispatch School Wednesday, June 6, 2018 C- 11 Pike Central Above and both right: Mrs. Danette Weisman's sixth grade Science classes had Paper Car Rac- es and Egg Crash tests in science the last week of school. The assignment was to build a vehicle out of on- ly three sheets of paper, glue, a straw and plas- tic wheels and axles that was both fast and safe. The students first watched a car safety video, then sketched and labeled a design before building their cars. They raced their cars to figure speed, and then added a raw egg to race and crash into a block wall to figure momentum and ultimately test safety. Many of the eggs survived and the stu- dents celebrated with scrambled eggs, while dis- cussing which design features worked best.
