First grader Kay- lynn Hurst won a bicy- cle for having perfect attendance the third grading period. Heather Nelson's fourth grade students studied famous people in Social Studies. Casting YOUR VOTE MATTERS SHERIFF JOHN JOHN PAID FOR BY BELLAMY FOR SHERIFF COMMITTEE Casting YOUR VOTE MATTERS HOMELAND SECURITY = Protecting Lives and Our Way of Life DEMOCRAT BALLOT Proactively protecting our county from drug dealers and helping kids say "no" to destructive decisions If elected sheriff, I'll lead Sheriff's Office personnel in working closely with others in the community as a team, to focus on the following Homeland Security issues: ● The Sheriff's Office will work closely with local, state and federal agencies to combine resources to combat drug dealers ● We'll work toward getting additional drug dogs to support current efforts by Deputy Seger and K9 Officer Bleck – this will expand our coverage throughout the county ● We'll implement methods to combat drug activity through community reporting and use of historical crime data to direct investigations and patrols throughout the county ● We'll work closely with school officials to discuss implementing the D.A.R.E. program for kids at an earlier age due to their exposure to the drug culture ● We'll work closely with school officials to discuss bringing young adults into our schools throughout the school year to give their testimonies of how drugs impacted their lives – these first hand testimonies will help kids see and hear about the effects of drug use and help them say "no" to drugs ● *We'll support establishing an after-school program centrally located in the county such as a Boys and Girls Club in order to: • Give kids a place to receive help with school homework • Give kids an opportunity to learn lessons that will help them live a safe and successful life • Give kids fun activities to do in a safe environment Please vote before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8 and ask for a Democrat ballot because your vote matters.
