He was born on Oct. 5, 1949, in Gibson County, to Hiram and Esther (Tisdale) Knight. He was a member of Oak- land City Eagles and was a former employee of Bridon American in Oakland City. He served in the United States Army during Viet- nam. He is survived by a niece, Cassie Harker, of Peters- burg; a great-nephew; a great-niece; half-sisters, Faye Winkle, of Vincennes, and Rhonda Hoover, of Oak- land City. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jer- ry Knight; great-nephew, Trevor Nalley; half- broth- ers, Hassell Knight and Paul Meyers; half-sisters, Chloe Brock, Garnel Lynch and Pansy Howell. Willis, 93 of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away April 22, 2018, in Fort Worth. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Berline; chil- dren, Bonnie Powell, Hervey (Kim) Willis, Patricia (Ed- ward) Turner, Alvin Willis and Barbara DeAnn ( Wil- liam) Flint; 15 grandchil- dren; and 35 great-grand- children. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services were Monday, April 30, 2018, at Lucas Funeral Chapel in Keller, with burial to follow at Dallas-Fort Worth Nation- al Cemetery. Visitation was from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. K ATHERINE HURST Katherine Hurst, 56, of Huntingburg, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at her home. She was born May 24, 1961, in Huntingburg, to John and Emma ( Watts) Volz. She was united in mar- ried to Bill Hurst, and en- joyed spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Shawn Davis, of Hunt- ingburg, and William "Wy- att" (Selena) Hurst, of Fort Drum, N.Y.; four brothers, James (Martha) Volz, of Vel- pen, Chester Volz, of Hunt- ingburg, Steven Volz, of Jasper, and Jacob Volz, of Huntingburg; three sisters, Karen (Tom) Brown, Jean Rhodes and Joan Noble, all of Huntingburg; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Hurst; and one brother, John Volz. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. EDT on Wednes- day, May 2, 2018, at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, with inter- ment to follow at Mayo Cem- etery near Duff. Blaize, 83, of Pe- tersburg, died on April 25, 2018, at 7:08 a.m. at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vin- cennes. He was born on July 23, 1934, in Bowman, to Fred and Ida (Stewart) Blaize. He married his wife, Don- na, on June 12, 1995, and he was a retired veteran. He is survived by his wife, Donna, of Petersburg; daughters, Becky Barnard, of Washington, and Barba- ra Collins, Anita Poselwait and Paula Blaize, all of Pe- tersburg; brothers, Frank Blaize, of Colorado, John Blaize, of Florida, and Jim Blaize, of Petersburg; sis- ter, Mary Schatz, of Bick- nell; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018, at Twin Oaks Church, with Pastor Robin Overby of- ficiating. Burial followed in Twin Oaks Cemetery. MARY ANN ALVEY Mary Ann Alvey, 65, of Huntingburg, formerly of Velpen, passed away at 8:16 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. She was born January 9, 1953, in Perry County, Ind., to Earl and Theresa (Kup- per) Kline, and married Jer- ry Ray Alvey in 1977 at Rock- port. She worked as a house- keeper and dietary aide at Providence Home, was a member of St. Mary's Cath- olic Church in Huntingburg, and enjoyed angels, yard sales and country music. She is survived by two sisters, Betty (Roger) Phil- lips, of Huntingburg, and Marlene King, of Stendal; and three brothers, Rich- ard (Ann) Kline, of Stendal, Kenneth ( Jennifer) Kline, of Jasper, and Gabriel (Carrie) Kline, of Dubois. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Jerry Ray Alvey, who died January 29, 2013. Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at St. Mary's Catho- lic Church in Huntingburg, with burial following in St. Mary's Cemetery. Stephens, 80, of Otwell, passed away at 12:33 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at University of Louisville Hospital in Lou- isville, Ky. She was born in Keens- burg, Ill., on September 30, 1937, to Leo and Ferris (Gray) Richardson. She married Raymond Stephens on March 31, 1956, in Keensburg Meth- odist Church in Keensburg, Ill. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1992. She worked at Memo- rial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper for 25 years, and then for Dr. Nor- ris' Surgical Pavilion for 16 years. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Jasper. She en- joyed serving in her church and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Surviving are three daughters, Terri (Ed) Frost, of Loogootee, Lynette Ste- phens, of Otwell, and Cin- dy Hochgesang, of Jasper; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Joan Beck-Strum, of Carmi, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Richardson, of Princ- eton; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death, besides her husband, is one brother, Wayne Richard- son; and one nephew, Eddie Wayne Richardson. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Shiloh United Meth- odist Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Otwell Cemetery.
