An IHSA A physical form – including the histo- ry, consent, acknowledge- ment and release – must be completed and signed by a parent or legal guard- ian and the student if the student is under the age of 18. The form will be avail- able that evening or can be picked up in advance at the athletic department, any school nurse's office or at www.ihsaa.org. The physical form will be kept on file at school with a copy of the exam and will be provided to any parent upon request. Students obtaining a sports physical exam from their personal healthcare provider for the 2018 -19 school year must use the IHSA A form. For the IH- SA A form to be valid for the 2018 -19 school year, it cannot be competed before April 1, 2018. The form must be signed by a personal healthcare pro- vider. Other forms will not be accepted. A sports physical form must be on file in order for a student to participate in any sport during the 2018 - 19 school year and also to participate in summer workouts in 2018. This will be the only time sports physicals will be conducted at Pike Cen- tral Middle School or Pike Central High School for the 2018 -19 school year. Participation is not man- datory. It is hard to figure the total money spent, but the results are there to see: one emp- ty car lot, one empty lot where Bud's Garage used to be and one 4'x8' sign. Wasteful spending? Kabrick fires career-low 40 to lead PCHS boys' golf team past Forest Park Junior Hayden Kabrick fired a career-best nine-hole score of 40 to lead the Pike Central High School boys' golf team to a 165 -184 victo- ry over visiting Forest Park on Thursday, April 26, at the Prides Creek Golf Course. Sophomore Jaylon Mills had a career-low score of 41, senior Lincoln Vaughn shot a 41 and junior Noah Onyett rounded out the Chargers' top four with a 43. In addition, junior Austin Holder and freshman Cutter Reed had scores of 45 and 47, respectively. "It was our lowest team score of the year, and the most balanced performance," said Pike Central head coach Jar- rod Gideon, whose team im- proved to 13-1. "We shot our low round without our one-two punch of Noah and Lincoln playing their best golf. We had other guys really step up and play some of their best golf." Pike Central will face North Daviess at the Country Oaks Golf Club on Thursday, May 3, before returning home to host Tecumseh on Monday, May 7. PCHS boys' golf team drops 10-stroke loss to Wood Memorial The Pike Central High School boys' golf team fell to 13-2 with a 160 -170 loss to Wood Memorial in a match played Monday, April 30, at the Prides Creek Golf Course. Sophomore Jaylon Mills led the Chargers with a nine-hole score of 41, fol- lowed by senior Lincoln Vaughn (42), freshman Cut- ter Reed (43) and junior No- ah Onyett (44). In addition, juniors Austin Holder and Hayden Kabrick shot scores of 47 and 48, re- spectively. "We really shot ourselves in the foot," Pike Central head coach Jarrod Gideon said. "We really didn't play our smartest round. I'm not sure if we were pressing too hard because we knew Wood Memorial was a good team and we were just trying to make too much happen." Gideon noted that the Chargers' top four golf- ers had a quadruple bogey – with a total of 12 penalty strokes – on Hole No. 7. "If they all par that hole, things really get interest- ing," Gideon lamented. However, Gideon said that he was pleased with the performances of Mills and Reed, the team's No. 5 and No. 6 players. "It's nice to see the young- er guys stepping up and posting some good scores," Gideon said. "That really bodes well for our future." The Chargers will play North Daviess on Wednes- day, May 2, at the Country Oaks Golf Club, before re- turning home to host Te- cumseh on Monday, May 8. "We will get back to the grind and really focus on course management over the next few days," Gideon said. "We are looking for and looking forward to a strong finish to the season."
