C-2 Church Wednesday, March 21, 2018 The Press-Dispatch Continued in next column I would give away ev- erything I own if I could keep my dog forever. This week PAWS is fea- turing a precious little pup named Sprout. This little gal is quite unique and appears to be a mix- ture of Pug, Beagle and has the ticking of an Eng- lish Setter. She is very even-tem- pered and attentive. Her gait is free and jaunty. Sprout is a little shy upon first meeting but quickly warms up to whomever shows her attention. She has a short, cobby body with white ticking on her chest and paws, a defined under bite which adds to her dignified personal- ity, has short, smooth black fur, weighs about 25 pounds and can be ad- opted by calling 812-354- 9894. CHURCH (Augusta) Broadway Street Winslow Pastor 812-582-0756 Sunday morning worship at 10 :15 a.m., children's Sun- day school during morning service; Celebrate Recov- ery Sunday evening from 5 -7 p.m. at The Gathering Place in Winslow; Wednes- day night prayer meeting and Bible study at 6:30 p.m. On April 4, we will be starting Family fellowship at 6:30 p.m. On Sunday, April 8, we will be having our Easter dinner and egg hunt, after the morning worship. Every- one is welcome. "Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving" (Colos- sians 4:2). Today we have learned to harness the power of the atom, but very few have learned how to develop fully the power of prayer. We have not yet learned that a man can be more powerful on his knees than behind the most powerful weapon ever de- veloped. We have learned that a nation is more power- ful when it unites in earnest prayer to God than when its sources are channeled into weapons. We have not dis- covered that the answers can come through contact with the living God. Who knows what might happen if millions of believ- ers around the world availed themselves of the greatest privilege this side of Heav- en—the privilege of inter- cessory prayer? Will you be one? If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. Your presence will be deeply ap- preciated and I am sure you will enjoy the blessings of God. First Wednesday of each month Advisory Board meet- ing, before Bible study. On March 21, at 6 p.m. there will be a called busi- ness meeting. Thought for the week—Ja- cob was a cheater, Peter had a temper, David had an affair, Noah got drunk, Jonah ran from God, Paul was a mur- derer, Miriam was a gossiper, Martha was a worrier, Gide- on was insecure, Thomas was a doubter, Sarah was impa- tient, Elijah was depressed, Moses stuttered, Zacheus was short, Abraham was old and Lazarus was dead. God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called. Be in prayer this week for the lost, the sick, our church, our country and leaders, and always each other. God's blessings on you this week. Try to be kind and show God's love because every- one is fighting some kind of battle. If you don't have a church home, we invite you to any of our services. The Human Struggle "Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own." (Philippians 3:12, ESV ). This scripture is a won- derful reminder that we are all human. Do we make mis- takes? Yes. Will God forgive us? Yes, even in the hardest of times and the worst of sit- uations. In saying that, just because God will forgive us, this does not mean to con- tinue doing what you know is wrong. Will he forgive us again? Always. However, as Christians we are to strive to be like God because we are his children. As such, we not only represent Christianity, but also how a child of God should act and react in a sit- uation. There will be times that your temper or mind will get the better of you. Re- member that none of us are perfect, and that God can and will help you with what- ever you are struggling with, if you only just ask. God bless you and keep you. We welcome you to all ser- vices.
