Norrington injured in head-on crash A Petersburg teen suffered arm injuries early Wednesday morning when he drove left of center and hit a Freightliner truck head-on. Travis Norrington, 19, of 1304 CR 75, Peters- burg, suffered severe bleeding from a lower arm injury in the crash. Pike County Deputy Sheriff Mike Willis said Norrington was driving a 2003 Mercury Sable GS east on High- way 64, near CR 700 E., when he went left of center and collided with a 2001 Freightliner truck driven by Mark D. Sollman, 45, of 2827 S. CR 900 E., Vel- pen. Sollman told Deputy Willis he saw Norrington coming across the center line and tried to get over, but couldn't avoid hitting him. Willis said Nor- rington couldn't talk to him due to his injuries. He was taken to the Deacon- ess Hospital Downtown by air ambu- lance. Willis said an examination of the crash scene showed two impact points on the westbound land, which indicat- ed Norrington crossed the centerline. A fter his car collided with the truck, it went into the westbound lane's ditch and overturned. Damage in the 5:30 a.m. accident was estimated at between $50,000 and $100,000. Sollman complained of pain, but refused medical assistance from the Pike County EMS.
