GABC achieved eighth consecutive year of record annual earnings German American Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: GABC) reported that the Company has achieved record annual earnings for the year ended on Decem- ber 31, 2017, marking the eighth con- secutive year of record performance. This level of annual earnings perfor- mance resulted in a 11.6 percent return on shareholders' equity for 2017, not- ing the 13th consecutive fiscal year in which the Company has delivered dou- ble-digit returns on shareholders' equi- ty. The Company also announced a 15 percent increase in its quarterly cash dividend. The Company's 2017 net income of $40.7 million, or $1.77 per share, was an increase of approximately $5.5 mil- lion, or 13 percent on a per share ba- sis, over its previous record annual net income of $ 35.2 million, or $1.57 per share, reported in 2016. Current year fourth quarter earnings of $11.6 mil- lion, or $ 0.51 per share, represented an increase of approximately 16 percent, on a per share basis, relative to 2016 fourth quarter results of $10.1 million, or $ 0.44 per share. The 2017 reported fourth quarter and year-to-date net income were pos- itively impacted by a $2.3 million net tax benefit resulting from the revalua- tion of the Company's deferred tax as- sets and liabilities related to the feder- al tax reform legislation enacted dur- ing the fourth quarter of 2017. In addition to the federal income tax benefit noted above, the record fi- nancial performance achieved in 2017 was largely attributable to a $5.0 mil- lion increased level of net interest in- come driven primarily by a higher lev- el of average loans outstanding. 2017 year-end loans outstanding increased by approximately $151.6 million, or 8 percent, from the prior year-end level. The year-over-year increase in loans outstanding was attributable to strong organic loan growth broadly based across the Company's entire market area and within all loan categories. University of Evansville Theatre's 50th anniversary season continues The University of Evansville De- partment of Theatre has announced that all high school students can re- ceive free tickets to remaining per- formances of the Shanklin Theatre's 50th Anniversary season. Made possi- ble by a generous grant from the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana, this offer includes tickets to Sense and Sen- sibility, by Kate Hamill and The Grapes of Wrath, by Frank Galati. A story of reputation, redemption and romance, Sense and Sensibility is a fresh and witty take on the Jane Austen story audiences know and love. When the Dashwood sisters find themselves at the bottom of the social food chain, the quest to claw their way back to the top consumes them. High society and wicked gossip collide in a whirlwind of scandal, passion and be- trayal. The play opens Friday Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. Additional performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 17, 22, 23, 24, and at 2 p.m. on Feb. 18 and 25. The Tony Award-winning play The Grapes of Wrath is an expansive retell- ing of John Steinbeck's brilliant Pu- litzer Prize-winning novel. The rivet- ing tale follows the harrowing jour- ney of the impoverished Joad fam- ily and their desperate flight from drought-ridden Oklahoma to the land of milk and honey in California. Un- compromising faith carries the fam- ily through heartbreaking loss in an epic celebration of the tenacity of the human spirit. The play opens Friday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. Additional per- formances are at 7:30 p.m. on April 14, 19, 20, 21, and at 2 p.m. on April 15 and 22. High school students can pick up their free tickets by going to the UE Theatre Ticket Office Monday-Fri- day, noon-5 p.m. Regular ticket pric- es are $18 for adults, and $16 for se- nior adults, UE faculty and staff. UE students may obtain one free student rush ticket beginning at noon on the day of the performance they wish to attend. Tickets may be purchased over the phone by calling 812-488 – 2031.
