Jesus' blood cleanses white as snow "Come now let us reason together, saith the Lord. Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Abhor that which is evil, cleave to that which is good." How much more shall the blood of Christ who through the eternal spir- it offered himself without spot to God purge your con- science from dead works to serving the living God. If we say we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth. Jesus' blood washes away our sins and makes our hearts pure and clean. We have lost some of our saints un- expectedly and others have experienced setbacks in other areas of life. Al- though we mourn loss and have to work through un- expected issues, one thing that has been becoming in- creasingly obvious is how a church can pull together and minister to each other in the midst of pain, sorrow and uncertainty. I would go so far as to say that a church and an indi- vidual who follows Christ closely can only shine the brightest in the midst of struggles. I have watched as young people cautiously take their first baby step of ministering to others and it gives me hope that we are indeed raising a new gener- ation of saints who love one another, support each oth- er in prayer and take practi- cal steps to meet the needs of others. Logan McCullough, Pas- tor isn't practiced in practical ways is dead. "What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, 'Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,' but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, 'You have faith; I have deeds.' Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder" ( James 2:14-19, NIV ). Larry Mitchell and Soul Patrol ministered in Word and song Saturday and touched many lives that will never be the same. God uses all facets of life to reach His people, saved and unsaved, to begin a building program in their lives. There is an old song that we used to sing, "I'm work- ing on a building for my Lord." With the help of the precious Holy Spirit, God is still working on me. I was a mess but now a progress. God builds in us spiritu- ally and we build naturally. Our building projects are about to begin for the glory of the Lord. He has been so good to us at House of Mer- cy and we give Him praise, honor and glory. The disciples were celeb- ratinig Penteost, originally a Jewish festival, when the Ho- ly Spirit descended on them and birthed the church. Pentecost, which began as a harvest festival, had come to commemorate the giving of the law. The book of Ruth became integral to festival worship. Why Ruth? This short story doesn't mention the law, let alone God giving it to Moses. Yet in Ruth's de- votion to her mother-in-law ( Where you go I will go... Your people will be my peo- ple..." {Ruth 1:16, NIV}, she fulfills not just the letter but the spirit of the law; loving- kindness – all the more re- markable because she's a foreigner. Boaz, too, dem- onstrates exorbitant kind- ness to Ruth. As Christians celebrate the Spirit bridging differ- ences in Jerusalem, uniting all nationalities by making the gospel message intel- ligible to all people, we too can remember Ruth's story. For in it, God unites two en- emy peoples for his grand purpose; Boaz and Ruth's marriage leads to King Da- vid and, ultimately, to King Jesus. Today, the Holy Spirit continues to unite all catego- ries ofpeople under Christ's reign for the good of the world. Office hours: 9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Friday.
