A wrinkled brow, a no- ble face spreads muddy footprints every place. Always in trouble, but never really bad, can al- ways cheer me whenever I'm sad. Bounces about, is always a clown. Can be nothing else but a hound! This week PAWS is featuring a sleek young hound named Cher. Cher is very gregarious and vi- vacious. She can be seen bounding about the dog yard playing with every dog she meets. She is very agile and can run like the wind. She has soft, short brin- dle colored fur. and a bobbed tail. Cher is approximately one year old and would love to have a young boy to spend the summer with. To adopt Cher call 812-354-9894. "As many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God" (Romans 8:14). The first key for useful- ness in God's Kingdom is humility. Pride cuts us off from God (and from other people)and deceives us in- to thinking we can do God's work without God's power. When we rely on the Holy Spirit, however, He sancti- fies us and empowers us so we can be effective tools in God's hands. But there is a second key, and that is faith, faith that God is sovereign, and that He is at work, even if we can't see it. Habak- kuk complained to God that evil people were winning the day. But God replied, "I will work a work in your days which you would not believe, though it were told you"(Habakkuk 1:5). God is at work, even in the midst of the problems, pes- simism and frustrations of our day. He alone is sover- eign and that is why we can trust Him, even when the way seems dark. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for your services. Your presence will be great- ly appreciated and I am sure you will enjoy the blessings of God. Worship It is said, "Quitters in the church are like motors; they start 'sputtering' before they miss, and start 'missing' be- fore they quit." "Let us consider one an- other in order to stir up love and good works, not forsak- ing the assembling of our- selves together, as is the manner of some, but ex- horting one another and so much the more as you see the day approaching" (He- brews 10 :24-25). Because He lives. John Manges, Minister Pastor 812-753-3539 Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; morning worship 10 :30 a.m.; Keep in prayer those on our church prayer list. Read Hebrews 13:1-3. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit... Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them" (Matthew 7:18, 20). Fruit takes time to devel- op and grow. Over time we will get to know others by the fruit that the Holy Spirit grows not only in them but in us as well. The apostle Paul lists that fruit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gen- tleness, and self control (Ga- latians 5:22-23). When we take the time to get to know the people around us, we allow our- selves to see the real fruit they possess. We may dis- cover angels in disguise around us. Come and worship. Every- one welcome. Dr. Robert Asa, Minister BRENTON CHAPEL CHURCH OF CHRIST 1194 E. Co. Rd. 400 N. Good Foundation Necessary Tourists stand in wonder- ing admiration before some of the palaces of the old world that have endured for more than a thousand years without a crack or seam. The Pantheon at Rome stands just as it did well over two thousand years ago. This would be impossible had not its foundations been right. The Rialto Bridge that spans the Grand Canal in Venice was erected in a.d. 1588. It has stood as it now stands for over four centuries, but that bridge rests on twelve thou- sand piles driven deeply in- to the soil. What is true of buildings is also true of life. God can- not and will not build the Christian virtues into your life, or fill you with the Ho- ly Spirit for His service, un- til the proper foundation of receiving Christ and Him crucified as your Savior and Lord has been laid.
