February 17, 2012 Sports 6 Wrestling prepares for sections Ryan Fisher Staff Writer Although Division Championships is out of reach, wrestling aims for top four rank JV The Red Bluff High School wrestling team begins to wrap up their season with a Junior Varsity Win and a Varsity loss. As sections creep varsity closer practice becomes even harder, hoping to be top four in the division. "The season is over for JV they did an amazing job this season," said Mr. Rottenberg. Junior Varsity had four league champions; Griffen Fales, Dallas Hethcoat, Choncho Torres, and Cody Clinger and one wrestler Jordan Johnson with 2nd and Fabian Torres with 3rd place in thei r though some JV wrestlers are excited for the next season. "We don't keep track of JV's record, but they finished second in league," said Rottenberg. The main concern though for the wrestlers who will be wrestling next season is if they Frosh boys finish season against the Oroville Tigers Armando Aguilar Staff Writer This year the frosh boys' basketball team is having a mediocre season. They have won some games and they have lost some games. This still isn't stopping them from trying to be better according to freshman Walker Dodero. They plan to get a couple more wins before their season comes to an end according to freshman Jay Boone. After losing a very tough game to Lassen 53-50. This freshmen team is still thinking positively about the rest of their season. "We will come hard and always try to win," said freshman, Wyatt Clement. As a team they want to improve on some techniques so they can be stronger as a team. "We want to stop turnovers as much as possible," said Boone. This being their first time playing at the high school level. They are making the best of this new experience. Also they are enjoying playing the sport that they love. "This is a lot fun even though it's barely freshmen year," said Clement. He also mentioned that they need to work on stopping turnovers. Alpine races toward league championships Got snow? They finally do. Rebecca Blanchard Staff Writer The Alpine team has only three races left in the season, one on February 21st and one on the 27th; they then have championships tentatively scheduled for the eighth of next month to the 21st at Northstar. "I think the races we are looking all forward to the most are the championships taking place at Northstar this Smalley, sophomore, you have to travel an hour and a half for snow practice.
